Why is love so hard?

For so long Y/n has loved Louis, but he never notices. Falling in love with your best friend isn't easy.

"You've been really distant lately, is everything ok?" Louis asked, having their movie night/sleepover like they do every Friday. "Uh, yeah, just not really been bothered lately." Y/n replied.

Louis nodded. "Oh, I forgot to tell you! Remember when I was telling you about Amy? She agreed to another date with me, she's so nice and I get along so well with her. We have so much in common-what's wrong?" Louis asked as he saw that Y/n look upset.

"Nothing, I'm fine." She replied. Louis let out a sigh. "Come on, tell me, I know you too well, I can see it in your face. Tell me." He said. "I can't, look let's just forget about it." Y/n said. "Y/n, we're not doing anything else until you tell me what's wrong!" Louis said.

Y/n took a deep breath. "Can't you see it? I love you." Her eyes shined with tears. "I have for so so long, but you don't see it. You're my best friend, and you always read me so well, but you've been so blind to this. Over and over you choose someone else instead of me." She looks down to her shoes and speaks quietly. "You have no idea how many 11:11 wishes, shooting stars wishes and just plain wishes I have used on you. Yet you talk about your newest crushes to me constantly. Haven't you noticed that I hesitate every time you ask who I like? It's because I'm so tempted to tell you it's you, but I know you won't care."

She looks up to meet his gaze with her big teary eyes but he's looking down. Avoiding her gaze. "I'm sorry." He whispered.

Y/n shook her head. "Forget it." She whispered and got up to leave, since it was Louis' house she was in. She knew she shouldn't have told him. She's ruined their friendship.

"No wait, Y/n." Louis said going after her, but she was already gone.

She's finally getting over him, she finally let her feelings fade away. Sure, it was hard, but she managed. 

But, her world came crashing down when she saw him walking towards him. But, it seems that he hasn't seen her.

Sighing, she kept walking, as they neared each other, Louis recognised the perfume, his eyes shifting up to meet her. His breath hitching when he saw her. She was even more beautiful than he remembered.

His now blue eyes are dull, they're now grey, the day she walked out after admitting her feelings, he felt the same. He felt the same way she felt but he was scared, scared that the feelings weren't returned.

"Wait!" He called. "Please wait!" His voice was a whisper, his eyes brimming with tears when she saw that she let a few stray tears fall herself.
