My Musings: The Holidays

I don't know about you, but this is my absolute FAVORITE time of year. Sure, there are 4 seasons in a year, but I think that this time of year is a season in and of itself. It's my favorite season!

I'm not kidding. I'm the type of person that hums Christmas carols in the middle of the year. In general, I love festive things, no matter the occasion. Whether it's food, apparel, or decorations, I'm all about it. The only exception I can think of, ironically, is anything pumpkin-spice themed. For some reason, I'm just not crazy about it like the rest of the population. But make no mistake, once the holiday season comes around, I can't get enough.

It's hard to decide what my favorite part is. A lot of it depends on whether you choose to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, another holiday, or even celebrate at all. Regardless of preference, the sight of a lit-up Christmas tree never fails to make me smile. Especially if there are presents underneath, haha!

Another thing I love about this time of year is the songs. I could listen to them all day, from old classics to new versions. It just fills me with so much excitement year after year. If I had to pick a favorite Christmas song, though, I'd go with "Carol of the Bells", hands down. It's been my favorite for years. I'll link a video here, if you'd like to listen:

(This is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra version.)

(Aaaahh, I just think that song is so epic!)

That's not the only thing. I can be a pretty sentimental person, and I love spending time with friends and family during this time of year. It all just seems so much better when everything is happy, cozy, and warm. Emotions seem to take on a different quality during the holidays. There's more emphasis on giving and sharing love with one another. It makes for a really nice atmosphere.

Also, I hope that everyone who reads this has a happy and safe holiday season. I know I've said this before, but your support means a lot to me. I started this book as an organizational and motivational tool for myself to help with writing, and I've really enjoyed it so far. The fact that it's made other people happy too has made me so glad; it just feels amazing! I look forward to posting new things each week, and the knowledge that people enjoy reading this spurs me on. I hope things will continue to grow here! Thinking about all of this puts a smile on my face and fills me with determination.
