Chapter 21

Sophia's POV

I ran in the door after school and grabbed my guitar. I started for my room.

"Wait homework then guitar Sophia" mom said stopping me in my tracks.

"Mommy" I complained.

"We go through this everyday and how does it turn out" she said.

"I do my homework" I said.

"Now put down the guitar and sit at the table and work" she said holding out her hand for my guitar.

"Fine" I said placing the guitar in her hand.

I say down and started on my homework. I looked at the kitchen clock. 3:40 I read dad comes home in two hours and 20 minutes. I rushed through my work.

"Know can I have my guitar" I asked her.

"Here you go" she said passing my guitar.

"Thank you. I want to look at a new song for daddy's birthday tomorrow" I said.

"Go for it. I promise I won't tell him" she said.

I ran to my room. I grabbed my laptop and looked up chords. I remembered a song I had learn awhile back. I found it and started to figure it out again. I must have taken longer the I thought. I looked at the clock and read 4:57. I got it down and played it over. I heard the door close and set my guitar down. I ran out to greet daddy instead I hit him with my door.

"Sorry daddy" I apologized.

"It's fine" he said.

I bent down his knee and stood on my tip toes and kissed his nose. He smiled and tapped my nose.

"Happy almost birthday" I said.

"Thank you lovely" he said.

"Who want's dinner" mom yelled around the corner.

"ME" I yelled skipping around dad.

"Macaroni with bacon for my sweet little girl. And pork chops and mash potatoes for me and my handsome man" mommy said place plates of food on the table.

After dinner we watch a movie like always.

Steve's POV

Sophia fell asleep in Natasha's arms.

"You want me to take her" I asked.

"I got her" she said standing up.

"All right i'll get ready for bed" I said.

I kissed Sophia's head and headed to bed. Natasha joined my a few minutes later. Then my phone rang.

"Who would call at 8:45" Natasha asked.

"I don't know" I said and answered the phone.

"Sorry to disturb you but your the only one out of the guys who I knew would answer" Clint said over speaker phone.

"What's up Clint" Natasha asked.

"Well me and Magen and Jennifer got in a car accident" he said(Jennifer is Clint's daughter).

"Are you guys alright" I asked.

"Me and Jen are but Magen not so much" he replied.

"You want us to come down" I asked.

"Well what about Sophia" he asked.

"She's already asleep she won't wake back up will be down in a few" Natasha replied.

"Thanks" he said and hung up the phone.

Natasha's POV

Me and Steve got dressed. I grabbed Sophia and bulked her in the car. We drove to the hospital. Steve carried Sophia on his side and we walked in. Clint was there holding Jennifer who was only 7 month old.

"You want me to hold her" I asked.

"Yes thank you" he said and handed her over.

"How's Magen" Steve asked.

"Having glass removed from her body. They think it might help. I don't think she'll make it" he said.

"Don't you give you hope Clint" I said.

"I'm trying not to" he said.

Then a doctor walked through the doors.

"Mr. Barrens your wife didn't make it. I'm very sorry" a doctor said.

Steve put Sophia in a chair and I gave him Jennifer.

"Come on its going to be ok" I said.

"How" he asked.

"You go to me or Jane if you need help with Jen or anything else. The avengers will always be there for you" I said.

"We aren't the avengers any more but thank you" he said.

He took Jennifer from Steve and I got Sophia and we drove home.
