After Mal's date, she explained to Evie and I about everything that happened. We were shocked to see that even Mal was starting to question her intentions. Was she actually starting like being in Auradon?
We sat in Remedial Goodness in silence. Fairy Godmother walked quickly up to us. "Children, excuse me," she began. "Um, as you know, uh, this Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to, uh, distance, we've arranged a special treat." Fairy Godmother ran back to the front of the room where a computer screen was set up. She turned on the screen to reveal an image of our parents. Some kids would be happy to see their parents, but I honestly was terrified.
"I don't see anything, nor do I hear," I heard Maleficent say.
"Kids," Fairy Godmother said, motioning us to come forward. We did so quietly.
"Press enter," we heard Jafar say.
"Can I please see a remote!" Maleficent yelled. "Is this thing on? Ugh, it's broken," she complained. "I hate electronic equip-oh!"
I'm guessing they finally got the computer to work. The Evil Queen was the first to say something. "Evie, it's mommy!" she said, waving. Evie gave a small wave back. "Oh, you know what they say. The poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Don't you mean the weeds?" Maleficent remarked.
"Heather!" my mother said. "I hope you aren't fraternizing with anyone from Wonderland. You know, if you were, it's-"
"Off with my head," I finished. "Yes mom, I-I know." Evie put her hand on my shoulder as comfort.
"Who's the old bat?" Cruella asked from the side.
"This is Fairy Godmother," Mal replied.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent asked.
"I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage," Fairy Godmother said defensively.
"You really couldn't give Cinderella until 1 a.m.?" Maleficent said while laughing. "I mean, really. What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?"
"They were mice," Fairy Godmother retorted. She turned to face us. "They were not...they were mice. They were not..."
"Thank you so much," Mal began. "Thank you."
"They were mice," Fairy Godmother said the screen before moving to the side.
"Hi mom," Mal said, greeting her mother.
"Mal!" Maleficent said with great power. It made all five of us rebound back. "I m-m-miss you."
"You children are never far from our thoughts," Jafar added.
"I got it," Mal mumbled.
"How long must must mommy wait to see you?"
Mal began, "Um, there's a big coronation coming up. I think sometime after...that."
"When?"
"Friday. 10 a.m."
"You sure I can't see you before that? I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic wan-you...you little nugget that I love so much." I let out a sigh of relief. I totally thought Maleficent was going rat out the plan about the wand. Thankfully, the other villains were able to stop her.
"Yes, I completely understand mother," Mal replied.
"Carlos, is that a dog?" Cruella said from the side. She was talking about the dog in Carlos' hands. Dude was the campus mutt in which Carlos' had recently befriended. Even though his mother drilled a fear into him with dogs, he was able to overcome it. "Oh yes, yes, baby," Cruella said, talking to the stuffed dog on her shoulder. "I do understand. It would make the perfect size for earmuffs."
