I walked into my next class. I was a little nervous since I didn't have either Mal, Evie, Jay, or Carlos with me. I sat down in a desk quietly. I didn't want to draw too much attention. Back at my old school on the Isle, Dragon Hall, we were taught that it was good to show up late and draw attention to yourself. It's not like that at all here in Auradon.
"Ahem," a voice said. It was Audrey. "You're in my seat," she said. Because I didn't want to cause such a fuss, I moved right away. It reminded me back of back on the Isle, before Mal and I became friends. She didn't like when people sat in her seat. I remember when Evie first came to Dragon Hall and made the mistake of sitting at Mal's cauldron.
I sat in a different seat towards the back of the room. "Don't worry about her," a voice said. I turned to face the voice; it came from a boy with dark skin and black hair.
"She's not worth fighting with," another voice said. I looked to come face to face with a girl with light skin and light brown hair. "Audrey just acts that way because her parents are some of the most prestige royals in Auradon."
"I'm sorry to be blunt," I started, "but who are you guys?"
"I'm Aziz," the boy replied. "I'm the son of Aladdin and Jasmine."
"And I'm Emily," the girl responded. "My mom's name is Honey Lemon. You know, the pretty science girl that's part of the superhero group Big Hero 6."
"Honey Lemon?"
"It's a nickname."
"Okay..."
"You're one of the kids from the Isle of the Lost, aren't you?" ased Aziz. "What's your name?"
I was about to answer, but the teacher began speaking. "Okay class! Today we have a new student." She motioned to me. "Would you like to stand up and introduce yourself?
I stood up silently and slowly. Everyone drew their attention to me, which made me feel really awkward and insecure. "My name is Heather," I began. "I-I'm the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. I used to live on the Isle of the Lost, and now I live here in Auradon."I looked around as whispers and murmurs were passed around the room. As a villain kid, I knew the people of Auradon wouldn't be accepting of me right away. I don't even know if the people of Auradon will accept me or the others at all. I sat back down as I didn't know what else to say about myself.
"You're the daughter of the Queen of Hearts?" asked Emily. "Like off with your head?"
"Yeah," I sighed. "She still uses that as a threat. Especially, with me. She can be over dramatic sometimes. I have a question for you guys though. Why are you guys talking to me? I'm a villain kid. Shouldn't you guys be, like, I don't know, hating me?"
"It's not your fault for all the things your mother did," Aziz said. "There's actually a group of kids who believe you guys aren't actually bad."
"Really?" I asked in shock. "W-Who's in this group?"
"Well, there's us two," Emily said. "Then there's Doug. I'm pretty sure you met him already. Then there's Lonnie. She's pretty much okay with you guys too. There's others, but that's all I can think of right now."
"Interesting," I said, nodding my head.
The class went on for a little longer, and I talked with Aziz and Emily the entire time. They were actually pretty cool. I mean, they're not yet wicked, so to speak, but they were pretty cool by my standards. I've never been treated nicely by anyone outside of Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos.
"You're going to the coronation, right?" Emily asked.
"The what?"
"Ben's coronation," Aziz said. "And of course she's gonna go. The whole school goes."
"Really?" I asked.
"You really need to get out more," Emily said.
"I do get out of my house," I replied. "It just so happens that for the fourteen years that I've been alive, I've lived on an island with a barrier around it."
The two of them nodded in response as they remembered my upbringing. "Because there's a barrier," Emily began, "does it block off the water as well." I nodded in response. "So you don't know how to swim?"
I shook my head. "There's an area that has open waters, but the area is run by pirates. My friends and I try to stay clear of it."
"Why is that?" asked Aziz.
"Let's just say, even villains can make enemies with other villains."
The two nodded. Suddenly, the bell rang, and it was time for my next class.
"Heather, you're pretty cool," Emily said.
"Yeah. You're not what we expected from a kid from the Isle."
"Thanks," I replied.
"You know," Emily began. "If you want to, you could always come to us if you need anything."
"Even if you need someone to hang out with, just come find us."
"See you around," Emily said as the both of them left.
I smiled. However, it changed quickly to a frown. I had this warm feeling inside of me. There was something in my gut that wanted to break through. I've never had this feeling before. I mean, maybe I have whenever I was with my friends, but it's never been like this. What is happening?
