Neither of them knew who was in the worse situation.
Peter in front of Luna, unaware of why she was ruining each and every one of his attempts at a conversation. Or Luna in front of Peter, thinking of ways to subtly tell Danielle that she did not spend months clawing her way out of the friendzone just for her to kick her back down into the pit.
It's safe to say that train ride was awkward, Luna clutching her bag tightly on her lap with Peter stood in front of her. He was watching her, she could tell that much without looking up to meet his eyes. She couldn't do it, not when she had so much on her mind, most of them revolving around the very boy in front of her. She almost pitied herself at that moment, how did she let herself get like this in the first place?
She could just picture Mia Lancaster wearing her stupid grin as she sang the words "daddy issues" to the girl. It was an ongoing joke between the three girls, and at first it was funny, but the more she thought about it, she hated it. Did the absence of a father figure turn her into one of those girls who falls in love with the first person to give them attention? She took pride in being a functioning teen with one parental figure in her life, not that she had any other choice. What else could she possibly do at the young age of six? But now she couldn't help but think that perhaps she wasn't nearly as functioning as she thought she was.
"This is Junction Boulevard. The next stop is Corona Plaza."
Peter nudged Luna's leg with his knee, waiting for the girl to snap out of her thoughts. He eventually gave up on attempting to start a conversation with her, anybody could see she wasn't in the talking mood. He could guess it had to do with the girl she was speaking to when he approached, immediately recognizing a look of worry she wore as she left and Peter arrived. He couldn't question her about it, not that she would respond anyways, because as friendly as they were with each other, it truly wasn't his business.
Luna's head shot up, and as fast as they met eyes, she broke it. Her gaze settled on the display, the red text showing her stop. Peter couldn't help but frown as she didn't utter a word to him, and he silently hoped it wouldn't stay like this as their time together progressed. Luna was never one to stay quiet, her finger always twirling around a strand of hair to prevent her hands from waving around as she spoke. One of the things Peter grew to appreciate about the girl was her ability to keep a conversation going, because unlike him, she hated silence. Typically the library was a quiet setting, but even the librarian could accept Luna's need for the slightest bit of noise, wether it come from tapping her pen or humming a song.
At times, Peter found himself annoyed with her need for constant noise. He appreciated the quiet more than she did, and at the times when he needed it most, Luna Giraldo always seemed to be around. He would never tell her to stop though, because he knew if he did, Luna would never do it again. That was another thing he learned about her.
