A rush of nostalgia hit the girl as she stared down at her shoes, her back against her locker. It was the same shoes she wore the day she sat across from Danielle, head leant against her hand as they stared admiringly at one another. She could feel a pang of guilt hit her all at once as she remembered it was Danielle who convinced her to pursue Peter, pushing back her own feelings for the sake of Luna's.
There was no real way to thank the girl. How do you thank someone who you abandoned? A friendship between the two wasn't an option, not when the heartbreak was still so fresh, hearts still aching for one another. There wasn't any way the two could put it past them, so they'd have to resort to awkward smiles exchanged in the halls, and small waves.
Luna lifted her eyes from the shiny shoes, looking down the almost empty hallway, a smile settling on her lips as she spotted the boy jogging down the hall. Pushing herself off the lockers, she watched as he rushed towards her, light breathes leaving his lips when he reached her.
"Sorry, Ned needed to talk to me," He huffed out, leaning down to greet the girl with a kiss. He pulled back with a pout when he met her cheek, the girl grinning up at him.
"I don't kiss on the first date Parker," She teased, intertwining their fingers. "Maybe if you're lucky, you'll get one after."
It was delayed by a week due to unpleasant circumstances, but their first date was finally upon them. Once more, Mia and Liz woke the girl up extra early to fix her appearance, despite Mia insisting "Peter would still call you pretty if you looked like you rolled in mud." A grin stretched out on her face when she told her, only making the girls mockingly gag at her before continuing to pluck the girl's eyebrows.
Peter raised an eyebrow at this, tugging the girl into his side, dropping her hand to wrap it around her shoulder. "Well it's a good thing I'm feeling lucky then."
When she pictured going on a date with Peter Parker, she expected him to take her to a nearby restaurant where they split the bill, talking until waiters grew annoyed with them and kicked them out. But he exceeded her expectations, and the look on her face when she stepped off the train was enough to prove that.
She didn't visit Brooklyn all that often, all the good places requiring one too many transfers than she liked. But that didn't mean she was any less happy to step off and see they were walking towards Brooklyn Bridge Park. As if her smile couldn't widen more, it managed to do so when Peter yanked a blanket out of his bookbag, a blush dusting over his cheeks when he met her eyes.
Now they rested on the blanket, sufficiently stuffed after indulging in two sandwiches from Delmar's, and two rounds of Uno. "You sure know how to plan a date Parker," Luna muttered, her eyes not leaving the setting sun disappearing behind the city skyline.
