I lean against a wall outside of the school and wait for Betty to arrive.
After about ten minutes, I see her walk out of school with Veronica and Kevin, she waves goodbye to them as she makes her way over to me.
"Hey, Jughead!" Betty says to me.
"Hey, you ready to go?" I ask.
"Yup!" She says. She has a skip in her step as she walks beside me.
"Betty! Betty! Elizabeth Cooper!" I hear an angry voice behind us.
I turn to see Archie, looking rather pissed off, stomping towards us
"Archie? Are you ok?" Betty says, there is a hint of worry in her voice.
"Like hell I'm ok! I just found out that my girlfriend is hanging out with Donny Darko! No, I'm not ok!" Archie yells "Come on, Betty!" He grabs her arm.
"No, Archie!" She struggles to pull her arm from his grip.
"Look, Archie, I think you need to calm down," I say, quickly stepping in for Betty's sake.
"What do you care, Jughead?!?" He yells, letting go of Bettys arm and stepping closer to me.
"Oh! I get it!" He says with a chuckle "you're in love with Betty and just want her for yourself! Well not gonna happen!" He punches me in the jaw and knocks me to the ground.
I hear Betty scream "Juggie!" She runs to my side as I begin to sit up.
"Don't Juggie him! You're my girlfriend!" Archie yells.
"No! I'm not your girlfriend! This is over, Archie!" Betty screams back at him, I hear her voice crack half way through her sentence.
"Fine!" Archie yells back and walks off, muttering to himself.
"Jughead, are you ok?" Betty asks me.
"I'll be fine... Are you ok?" I reply.
"I'm glad it's over. I don't know why he flipped out like that" She sighs and then gets a worried look on her face "Juggie, your bleeding" She turn my face to look at the cut that Archies punch left.
"We need to get you some ice... Pops?" She says, obviously worried.
I smile and nod. She stands up and reaches out her hand to help me up.
I gladly take it "Let's go," I say as she smiles up at me.
