At the Bar

Chapter 18 Test

Everyone cleaned up the bar as usual. Killian and Regina were a little more quiet. Regina didn't really know what Killian was thinking about her possibly being pregnant. The whole thing filled her with panic. Things had been going so wonderfully and smooth. She was slightly afraid to take the plunge and move in with him, even though they rarely had spent nights apart since becoming official. 

"Ok I'm breaking the silence!" Ruby shouts and everyone stares at her. She puts a container of glasses on the bar, and looks at Killian and Regina, "So you're going to have a baby," Ruby states. "We haven't had the test yet," Regina shakes her head, "So? If you ARE, what's the problem? Why are  you both so racked with nerves? You have had a crush on each other for years, been in love with each other for years, and now you're together, you're both like 30 or older or whatever, so what's the problem?" Ruby asks. 

The others all stare at Killian and Regina, as the pair look at each other. "Uhh, I don't know, just it's sudden and not planned, that's all, we're not even married, and Regina hasn't even moved in," Killian said. "Move in with him," Ruby commands, Regina glares at her, "I don't answer to you wolf," Regina sasses. 

"She has a point," Elliot adds, "What?" Killian asks, "Come on, it's true," Graham adds, "So you're all just telling me to move in? I'm the boss in this bar," Regina says, "Yeah but with relationships, you've both delayed this long enough, and you're acting like teens scared about being parents," Ruby said. "I am an adult woman, and he's a man, we know how to handle kids, we handle all of you," Regina sasses. 

"Exactly," Elliot smiles. Lacey, Ruby, Graham and Elliot all cross their arms looking at Regina and Killian. "Bloody hell, stop it," he scolds. "See? You're already a Dad," Ruby said. Killian rolls his eyes, and sighs at Regina, she stares at him, "Well, his baby would be ... really cute, I bet," She shrugs. Killian smiles, "They would be beautiful," he says. "See?" Ruby smiles. 

"And we have a horrible schedule, where we're literally working 13 hours," Regina says. "So? A baby doesn't sleep at night anyway, it would work," Graham said. "Plus you could have them here and we could help," Lacey said. "You would.. help us?" Regina asks. "Of course, aren't we like a dysfunctional family?" Elliot asks. 

"Who's all slept with each other," Graham adds, "not yet," Elliot winks at him. "Ok ..." Graham changes the subject. Ruby and Lacey let out a laugh. "The point is, you two aren't alone, and hey we been shipping you and waiting for a mini you to show up for years," Ruby said. 

"We'll finish, go get a test, and let us know," Ruby takes Regina's keys, "Right now?" Regina asks. "Don't you want to find out?" Lacey asks. "Mm, pharmacy is open in this town still," Killian said. Regina sighs, "Ok.. let's go... Daddy," Regina said anxiously. "I told you not to call me that in front of them," Killian jokes. 

The pair walk down the street, Killian gently takes Regina's hand in his. She feels calm just having his hand securely grip hers. "This isn't the end of the world," Killian said. "I didn't say it was," Regina shrugs. "What are you so afraid of?" Killian stops her and she faces him, looking up at his face, which is warm, yet tired. "It's just going so well," Regina shrugs. "So? This won't mess it up Regina, a baby will just make you not able to ever get rid of me, I like that," he smirks. "Killian, it makes us parents for the rest of our lives," Regina said. "And? I saw the way you looked at me when I was giving the toddler milk at the bar, you were holding your stomach almost like you were wishing for it," He said. 

"Well I admit I'm starting to get this maternal feeling," she said. "So? What's the problem?" He asks. "I don't know, I'm so set in my ways, I didn't expect all this change so fast," she said. "Well, you would technically have 9 more months to prepare for the baby, well we," he said. "Yeah, there is that... the we part," Regina says. 

Killian cutely kisses her hand, and they head into the pharmacy for a test. They head to Killian's place as it's closer, and Regina heads to the bathroom, Killian trailing right behind her. "Uhh I like the support but I think I can pee on the stick without you," she says. "Right.. I've seen you pee and vomit," he adds. "Right.. but come on I have to angle on a stick," she says. "I could make that so dirty right now, but I won't," he teases. She pushes him and he heads to sit on the bed. 

Killian fiddles his hands a moment and Regina comes out. "Well?" he looks at her expecting an answer. "Oh it takes 5 minutes," Regina said. Killian looks at the clock. "Ah, tick tock," he says. Regina sits next to him a moment, and he holds her hand, they patiently wait as the 5 minutes seem like eternity, "Time's up," Killian says first. "yeah," Regina sighs. 

Regina stands slowly, in a matter of moments everything in their life will be different, they'll be expecting a child. She stops, from entering the bathroom, "Ok," she turns on her heels, "No matter what that test says, I love you, and I... want to move in, and I don't want to be afraid of something so wonderful," she admits. He smiles, and puts his hand up her face and into her hair, "Me too," he says, and kisses her head. 

She slides her hand into his and takes him towards the bathroom with her, and the pair take 5 steps towards the sink. Regina takes a breath and lifts the test. The test has a digital display, and easily she reads what the verdict is. 

She presses her lips together, as she holds the thin test between her fingers, and she smiles. She looks up at him, and let's the smile turn into a full grin. He laughs, and takes her chin gently to kiss her deeply, as their phones both start to buzz. "I'm guessing the other kids expect to be told right this second," Killian said. "Yeah," Regina breathes. 

"Wow..." Killian sighs, "What?" Regina asks, "Just...wow.." Killian slides his hand gently over her stomach, and rests it there, as she places hers over his.
