Chapter 25

It’s lunch time and finally, the group has been eating together again. It’s been days since the play is already done but this was the only time they actually have free time. Well, at least most of them are there. Youngjae is the last one to arrive in the table because he’s been thinking about things.

“Hey, oppa. What happened to you?” Chaeyoung greeted him as soon as he took the seat across her. Youngjae just gave her a look as if asking her what’s wrong with him.

“You look so… tired. Haven’t you gotten any sleep?” It’s now Dahyun who asked him. She hasn’t met him since that day she walked out of their hang out place.

“I don’t know. I think… I think I messed everything up.” He said and that caught the other three’s attention. They all gave him a look that asks him to explain everything.
Jackson and Dahyun were busy munching on their food while Chaeyoung stares at Youngjae who was resting his head on his arms at the table.

“Well? Do you plan…” Dahyun’s question was cut off when Chaeyoung suddenly blurted something and poor Jackson choked on his food.

“He confessed to Mina.” Chaeyoung said still staring at Youngjae who was now stiff on his position.

“Well, shit! I thought you’re going to wait for it?” Jackson said when he recovered only to be smacked by Dahyun.

“Watch your language! But wait, when?” Dahyun asked still confused.

“Well, I thought about what you guys said when… Dahyun walked out and I thought that if not there and then, I wouldn’t find the time to say my feelings to her.” Youngjae explained, his voice is muffled from his position that Dahyun wants to pull him up to hear him clearly.

“O…kay? But when? I mean… that was just last weekend and…” Jackson’s eyes widen in realization.

“Before the play.” Chaeyoung said and confirmed Jackson’s theory.

“Hey, small, how come you knew all of these?” Jackson asked because Chaeyoung seems to know all of the details.

“Well, duh. I’m Mina’s best friend so it’s just normal that she tells me everything.” Chaeyoung answered and glared at Jackson for his nickname to her.

“But Youngjae oppa, don’t worry…” Before Chaeyoung could finish her sentence, Youngjae stood up from his seat and grabbed his bag to leave the cafeteria.

“I’m going back to the room. See you later.” He said and raised his hand as a goodbye before walking out of the cafeteria lifelessly.

“Well, I was just about to say to him not to worry because Mina was just probably shy and everything and she feels the same but he didn’t hear me out.” Chaeyoung said and shrugged as she looked at Youngjae’s image of walking away. She has already done her part to help her best friend so it’s now time to let them on their own.

Youngjae was thinking if he did the right thing in confessing his feelings to her that day. He doesn’t know what has gotten into him that time but he just felt right. Even without the grand things he wanted to do, he felt like his sincerity would be enough but now he feels like he shouldn’t just have followed his gut.

Jackson, after hearing what Chaeyoung said, bid his goodbye to the other two and made his way towards Youngjae. He didn’t have a hard time following him because the guy seems like he was so lost in his thoughts that he could bump into anyone and not notice it.

“Hey, don’t worry. Everything will be okay.” Jackson said as he put his arms around Youngjae’s shoulder.

“Yeah? I don’t think so. She’s my friend and I might have ruined the only connection we have.” Youngjae said. His eyes looked so tired.

“Well, I never thought that you would confess to her immediately because you said that you wanted to wait. But...” Jackson says but was startled when Youngjae shouted.

“Jackson, can you shut up?! Maybe… maybe if I didn’t to your advice to say my feelings to her immediately, maybe she’s not avoiding me right now!” Youngjae shouted and some students are starting to watch the scene.

It’s rare to find the two guys fighting because they are the best of friends but its rarer to hear the calm and collected Youngjae shouting. In the hallway if you might add.

“I’m… I’m sorry Jackson. I-I didn’t mean to shout at you. I didn’t mean to blame you but I want to be alone.” Youngjae said and made his way through the students who were watching him.

Mina, who was standing near the cafeteria, heard everything and her heart started to beat faster. For a lot of reasons. First, because she saw Youngjae again after the confession, second because he looks so lifeless, she feels guilty for not spending her time with the group during lunch time and third, because even if it’s not right, she thinks he looks hot when he’s angry. She’s never seen him angry before so you couldn’t blame her.

“Jackson? I’m sorry. He shouted at you because of me, right?” Mina asked to Jackson who was still stunned because Youngjae shouted.

“What? Wait… oh, hey Mina.” Jackson greeted her brightly that it confused Mina. She was pretty sure that they just got into a fight.

“Aren’t you… mad at me? I mean, I may sound full of myself, but aren’t I the reason for his temper?” Mina asked unsure.

“Oh, yes you are but it’s okay. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him like that. It feels good that he doesn’t hide that he’s kinda pissed at me.” Jackson explained with a smile on his face and Mina just nodded at him.

“Hey, Mina? Can you tell me if the feeling is mutual? Because I’m one of the reasons he confessed to you. I told him that it’s obvious you felt the same but… but now that he’s said it, I’m not sure anymore. If… if ever that you don’t feel the same, just tell him immediately so that he won’t suffer for too long. And also, I wanted to know if my persuasion is worth it of our friendship.” Jackson said. Mina’s eyes widen at what Jackson said but the guy just laughed at her reaction.

“You already said it. Am I that really obvious?” Mina asked then hid her face to hide her blush.

Jackson smiled widely when he saw Mina’s reaction. He was just so happy that he didn’t made the wrong decision to push his best friend to do something. He had already caused too much head ache to them, it’s now time to pay them back.

“Well, that’s good to hear. Just so you know, you two will make a cute couple.” Jackson said and winked at Mina before heading to their room. Mina, on the other hand, feels her face heat up more because of what Jackson said.
