It was a big surprise for everyone when Chuck wasn't the youngest around the Glade anymore. You had replaced him. Well they thought you were younger than Chuck was, there was no way of really knowing for sure.
Alby and Newt thought it was best if Chuck introduced you to the Glade. The moment he saw you he was smitten. It wasn't per se that he loved or even liked you, but he got this feeling in his chest. The strings that had tightened themselves around his heart and throat in worry had let loose.
Oxygen could flood his lungs freely when you smiled at him. He wasn't afraid of the things that hid behind the walls that towered over them day and night. He shook his head declared himself crazy for feeling that was before even saying a word to you.
He greeted you. "I'm Chuck."
You scratched the back of your neck, and let out a nervous breathy chuckle. "I--" pause, "don't know my name yet."
Chuck said, "That's alright. You will think of it eventually."
He rambled on during the introduction of the Glade telling you every single thing that entered his brains. "I klunked my pants three times before they got me out of the pit," Chuck told you, only seconds after that realising how embarrassing that fact was. He thought, they must think that I'm some sort of idiot.
What he didn't expect is for you to let out a laugh. It wasn't a perfect laugh, but it fitted you. As cheesy as this is going to sound, it sounded like music to his ears. That day he vouched to make you laugh more.

well, i have been reading more (e.g. looking for Alaska, turtles all the way down and (atm) geekerella which i just found out is a trilogie!!!) and i feel like it has changed my writing slightly.
