chapter 31

MEERA'S POV

I was sitting on bed looking at him who's pacing around our room talking over the phone . It's been twenty five minutes for god's sake! I kept quiet coz I know he's been struggling with the deal just to get proper equipment for our hospital. Many children would benefit with it .

I sighed and slept on bed watching him roam around. After about half an hour he kept his phone down and sat on couch opposite to me . He looked stressed and worried .

"What happened Arjun?." I asked moving close to him .

He pulled me on to his lap and hugged me . We stayed like that for ten minutes and I could feel his heart thumping loudly .

"They want me to come there as soon as possible." he said still holding me.

"New York? When ?." I asked.

"Maybe in two days?." He said last part lowly as if he's sad to go there.

"So early? Didn't you completely prepare for it? Is that the reason you are stressed?." I asked moving away from him.

"I don't want to leave you and go. I don't know when I will come back." he said looking down.

"Was this the reason you wanted to spend time with me?." I asked making him look at me.

"Yeah call me selfish but I wanted some alone time with you and I can't spend whole day here , need to go back to our place by night." he announced.

"How many days will take for you to return?." I asked  now sitting infront of him.

"Not days weeks. I don't want to go leaving you here. I can't stay without you." he said playing with my hair and sliding on to the floor.

"It's okay Arjun , you will come back right? After the deal?." I questioned him.

" Of course I will! Who the hell can leave their love and go ? Not even  ten days from our marriage and look at me leaving my wife alone. I should be taking you to honeymoon and when I planned a mini , I can't spend even these two days with you." he said feeling sad.

"Arjun , look at me. I will be here. Waiting for you. I can't leave my profession coz many patients are under my watch and you know that I am head for emergency ward which means I am always busy. I won't be feeling lonely at all. Go there. Get the deal and come back to me. I promise we will have our honeymoon for over six months or years or forever." I said holding his chin.

This might be the longest conversation we ever had. I don't want him to feel guilty at all. He's doing this for me and how can I be selfish?.

"But I will miss you." he said keeping his head in my lap and stretching his body on the floor.

"Me too." I replied stroking his hair.

"Sid said he will accompany me , it's still not decided. It depends on how Khushi parents are reacting to their marriage." he said closing his eyes.

"Don't worry , we are there . You don't know about Akash he is real possessive about the people he love. He will be there to handle any shit." I said laughing a bit.

"Meera , I will come back as soon as possible." he said still thinking about it.

I hummed in response
"Arjun , don't go there feeling bad that you are leaving. You might be leaving me for few weeks but you are saving more than thousands of lives by getting that equipment more over , you will be knight in shining armour for the children." I said.

"Really? Is it worth that much? I thought it will be costly to afford." he said getting up from my lap.

"No Arjun , we decided to reduce and apply all government schemes on it, that way it will be in reach to patients. It's like not so costly and not so cheap. Once it gains importance our hospital is planning to introduce its own schemes to minimise the expenses." I said.

"That's great Meera! The cost of equipment will be covered by people using it for treatment, the more the merrier!." He exclaimed and stood up calling someone.

I smiled at his excitement. He's so like small child.

"Come we will have our lunch and start for our place Pune." he said stretching his hand.

I sighed. Maybe this is it. I don't want to leave and I don't want to express it. He's already sad about it, I don't wanna add up to it. I smiled wide and we both had our lunch arranged by hotel. We had civilized conversation no teasing or abusing each other.Soon we packed our bags and started in our car.

After an hour or so I slept thinking about the time we spent together. I felt someone pushing me and i got up startled. It was pitch black outside and i found Arjun opening my car door asking me to get down. As soon as I got down, he closed my eyes and asked me to follow him.

The ground underneath me is rough full of stones, after walking for about five minutes he allowed me to take in the view.

I gasped ! It's so beautiful!

We were standing at edge of mountain and I could see whole city lit ! I never expected I would see something like this in my life.

"Hows it ?." Arjun asked circling his hands around me from behind.

"How did you find it?!." I questioned him looking at the view.

"I have my ways." he said kissing me on my cheeks.

"It's breathtaking Arjun." I exclaimed holding his hands.

"Come , let's sit." he said leading me to edge of the cliff. We carefully sat there holding eachother hands and looking at the view.

He has gone through so much just to make me happy and I haven't even confessed my feelings for him. I felt bad for not doing anything. He doesn't expect me to behave according to him and I couldn't even say those three words properly.

Then and there I decided that he needs to know how much I love him.I mentally prepared myself that I will surprise him with my confession soon. He got us some food which I had heavily and we clicked picture together mostly with him kissing me in it.

We reached back home by eleven at night and I slept immediately as I have to reach hospital early in the morning. Arjun was awake going through his files.

Our mini honeymoon may not be so adventurous but I was glad that he got what he wanted most.
