My brother.

My poor, dying brother sprawled on the floor with crowds. Crowds watching him die.

'Lucas!' I screamed. It's like I couldn't stop.

'Miss, I'm going to have to ask you to back away' a police officer approached me. The words he said to me fuelled my anger even more.

'No! That's my brother. I don't care, let me past now!' I ordered, screaming and sobbing but frankly I couldn't care less. Granted I wasn't close with my long lost sibling, but family will always be family.

Ignoring the protests from the police officers, I raced to the crime scene. There lay my brother, alone and pouring with blood. I screamed as he was forced onto a stretcher and rushed over to one of many ambulances. I ran over just as he was placed in and climbed in just as a paramedic said to me, 'who are you miss?'.

'I'm his s s sister. Please hurry he can't die' I plead to which he nods his head and allows me to sit down. He sits opposite me and watches as I observe the horrific sight of my brother. He's barely recognisable. His face is beaten black and blue and there's hardly a glimmer of body blood - free.

'Lucas, it's me Ellie. You can do this, my champion. I know you can just stay with us' I cry. Mason completely slipped my mind but knowing him he'd think to meet me at the hospital.

Looking at the paramedic, he gives me a look full of sympathy and sadness. 'Can I ask what happened' I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

'Gangs. Your brother seemed to be part of the wrong crowd. We assume it to be with drugs. So from the evidence found we're guessing a pretty serious fight happened. But try not to stress. From the looks of it you're expecting?' He explains, his voice gentle and soft. I found it to be strangely soothing.

'Yeah, not long now'. I answer, placing my small hands over my huge bump. I couldn't help but feel sorry for our baby being brought up in the mess that is our lives. I shake away the fresh tears forming and pull my phone out to text Mason. I tell him what's happening and he is coming to meet me at what seems to be my second home.

The minute we arrive at the hospital, I am pulled out of the way and flocks of nurses and doctors are running around, preparing everything for Lucas. I am ordered to stay out of the way, so I actually listen for once and wait outside for my main source of comfort. Whilst I'm waiting, I make the call I'm dreading. My mother. I know she has a soft spot for Lucas, though she hates to admit. I'm almost positive this could destroy her, but as for my father I beg to differ.

'Mum?' My shakily voice greets my mother, my heart pounding.

'Ellie dear, how are you?' She asks, trying to make conversation.

'Mum, you need to come to the hospital quick' I order.

'Why, goodness it's not the baby is it? Ellie please what's going on?' She pleads.

'It's Lucas, just come quick mum'. I say and quickly end the phone.

Whether she will come or not is another story.
