THIS IS NOT THE END
"This is not the end, this is the beginning."
As I close my eyes for what I thought to be the end of my life,
The war I have left behind continues to be a strife.
When the blue orbs open once more,
I am here, my spirit, at it's core.
I come to many welcoming paws, greeting lost family.
I find myself wondering if this is sanity.
Then I remember my death and I cringe.
My sadness comes back, my heart snapping at the hinge.
Just when I thought my life wasn't complete,
what I had just heard, the surprise could never compete.
A second chance with life?
A new beginning, a new body, one that can walk without a limp?
I find myself smiling, my fur unkempt.
Many sacrifices will be made,
but at the same time, I feel saved.
From the ashes this Cinder has risen.
For this is not the end, this is merely the beginning.
