The rain started pouring down as if the sky was an emotional wreckage. It's as if the world knew this day was going to come. The day where hope and despair crossed paths, and created a treacherous relationship together.
Oh how I wish I could've altered it.
"She's definitely not here.." Chiaki said as we looked at the giant Izuru statue in front of us. I was with Nagito and Chiaki, as I had no choice.
'Little do you guys know...' I pestered sadly to no one but myself.
"Hold on." Nagito said as he eased his way towards the statue.
'There's no way in hell...'
"Gh, What is it?" Chiaki questioned as she walked closer to the statue with Nagito. Meanwhile I stood still, feeling the rain drench me in my place.
"Why put a statue in a place like this....here...huh..."
Nagito started off in a loud voice, but gradually grew into quiet whispers as he made his way around the statue, and pressed EXACTLY where the secret button was.
As he pushed the button, a brick from underneath him started to gradually stoop lower.
And thus, opening the secret stairway.
"Lucky asshole.." I whispered to no one.
"Komaeda look!" Chiaki said in a worried tone towards Nagito as the stairs fell to a foul drop.
"Hey Chi, you coming to see this?" Chiaki yelled back to me. I just stood there.
This wasn't because I was afraid of Mitari and Tsumiki's secret getting out. Oh no.
This statue gave me major anxiety. The sudden realization of reality was hitting me like a train and I just..
I couldn't stop it.
"Y-yeah.." I said quietly as I walked closer to the stairs, in the middle of the two.
"What in the world is going on?" Chiaki questioned. Nagito looked down towards the stairwell and said in awe, "woaaahh! We found a secret passage, cool. I really am super lucky huh?" He then softly elbowed me, jokingly in the side. I chuckled awkwardly, worried about what was going to happen next.
"Wait, you didn't know it was here?" Chiaki asked Nagito. He simply replied, "not a clue." Then proceeded to walk down. Chiaki grabbed my hand and led me down as well. I could tell she was anxious to look as well.
As I stared down into the abyss of the staircase, I slowly grabbed my trusty knife from my leg garter, and clutched it close. Chiaki squeezed my arm tighter once she noticed my surrender.
"Total chance, that's my thing.." he continued.
Nagito led us down, as he watched every step he took down to the hole of madness.
Every breath I took got steeper and quicker, my heart pounding so fast, as if a cheetah was running on a wheel for it to pump.
Chiaki eventually let go of my arm as we both trailed up to Nagito. It got darker, so Chiaki used a lamp she had handy. We all descended down the flight of madness in silence, wary of the consequences of speaking.
"What would a school even need for something like this?" Chiaki asked in a quieter tone than usual.
Nagito shrugged. "Right? Well my guess is someone's doing something they really don't want anyone else to know about."
