3 Years Later:
"Pearce, all I'm saying is that you need to do this in order for you to be promoted," Rick, my boss, told me. He knows I how badly I want to be head of Public Relations, meaning I get to clean up the mess that all these band boys make, he's just looking out for my well being.
I shook my head, "No can do Ricky, I am not subjecting myself to 100 plus heat for the whole summer with a bunch of guys that don't know the rules to basic hygiene. I'll wait."
"Pearce," he warned. "It's not up for negotiation."
I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't really care. I'm not doing it."
"Is something wrong with it? You had a blast on Warped a couple years ago," he reminded me. I groan and hit my head against my desk lightly. "There it is," he replied smugly. "Spill."
I groan again and raise my head to face him. "My stupid ex is on that tour. My stupid ex that I hate with every fiber of my being. My stupid ex that broke me, that made me this person, this cold hearted bitch. My stupid ex that I actually don't hate, but love. My stupid ex that makes me hate myself for that reason."
"Wow, you really are hard on yourself," he chuckled. "Anyways, put your big girl panties on and pack a bag. You're going."
I turned my computer off and started to grab everything that I need to finish my work at home. "Look, get one of the rookies or interns to do it. I can't."
"I need someone that most of these guys know, someone that Kevin likes and someone that won't get boozy and screw everything up," he stated. "DING DING DING, THAT'S YOU!"
Once again I found myself shaking my head as I ushered him out of my office. I locked the door and headed straight for the stairs. "Rick-"
"No. I'm sorry Pearce but you either do this or I have to let you go," he cut me off firmly.
I was taken back at his forwardness, he's never been like that with me. I sighed in defeat and nodded my head. "I'll pack tonight. When do I leave?"
"Saturday, 10 A.M, don't be late. You leave from here with Issues."
I laughed quietly to myself. "At least you got me someone I like."
"You know it, Kid. Now get a good nights sleep. It'll probably be your last one for awhile," he joked. "See you tomorrow afternoon."
I nodded and waved at him before heading to my car and making the 20 minute drive home. I love Warped, really I do but he will be there probably with some slut. I've avoided getting into his life, the past 3 years is a total blank. Well, except that arrest. I dealt with that. I dealt with that and he doesn't have a clue. And no, it wasn't because I needed to work my way back into his life (thank you Jaxin) but because man, it looked good at work. I was a legend.
The worst part is that after I left him that night 3 years ago, I had to essentially leave the guys too. I'd been with Austin for years, several in fact. They became my family and overnight... they weren't. They were the best friends of the guy that broke my heart.
I pulled into the familiar drive way that belongs to my house and noticed that there are 2 familiar cars. One belonging to Jaxin and the other to Tony. I knew they would have booze which is exactly what I needed to make it through tonight, tomorrow night and well, the rest of the summer. I opened the door, huffing at the fact that it was unlocked.
"Helloooooo," I called, hearing my voice echo through out the house.
Footsteps came dashing towards me and soon enough both guys were in my line of vision and rapidly getting closer. "RORY," they both seemed to screech at the same time. "WE MISSED YOU!"
