"Tony... wh-what do you mean?"

"I mean I'm in love with you Rory."

I backed away from him slowly, not knowing what to do. "Look, Tony... we... we need to talk about this but not here and not right now."

"You don't feel the same way?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Tony, I'm emotionally damaged because the guy I wanted to spend the rest of my life with cheated on me. I haven't been looking for another love." I knew that I was hurting him but I didn't know what else to say at this point. "Look, let's talk about this some other time. You'll come out to see the Pomona date or something. I'll see you then Tone."

It replayed over and over again in my head. His words, his face, his hurt. It was making me sick. I just tore my best friend apart. And then there's Erin. Sweet, hilarious Erin that is going to find out that Tony doesn't love her. That made me feel ever worse.

"Pearce," a voice called from the back lounge.

I sighed and got up, making my way to  the back lounge where the voice had called from. "Yeah," I asked as I poked my head in. I only saw Chris there and I immediately wanted to turn around and forget that I heard him.

"You coming in or what?"

I sighed and walked in, taking the seat farthest away from him. "What can I do for you, Chris?"

"For one, you can stop avoiding me," he muttered gesturing to where I was sitting. "I don't bite."

I rolled my eyes and cracked a smile. "We both know that's a lie." His gaze softened as he chuckled with me. I got up from my original seat and went to sit next to him. "I'm sorry," I whispered.

"I forgive you," he replied just as softly. "So who was he?"

I looked at Chris with a confused expression on my face. "Who? Tony?"

"No, not Perry, I know him. I mean that guy that broke you, Pearce. We were great together, you actually got me and didn't have any issues with who I am," he replied. "Some guy broke your heart and that's why you left me."

I sighed and curled into his side like I use to when I was upset. "He was a guy that I'd met in high school."

"Ah, the high school sweethearts," Chris teased, poking my sides where he knows I'm ticklish.

I shook my head, "Not exactly. We didn't see eye to eye at all in high school." I had to chuckle at the thought of not getting along with the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

"Enemies but secret lovers," he poked again, making me laugh.

I shook my head again. "Nope. I hung out with the jocks and the preps, he hung out with the punk kids. My boyfriend made fun of him all the time, full on bullied. I never joined in but I never stopped it. Not until senior year. But he hated me because I was the girl he liked and I was part of the group making his life a living Hell."

"Wow. So you were always a bitch," Chris asked jokingly.

I nodded, "Pretty much. I guess I got what I deserved."

"Aw, don't say that," he whispered, hugging me tightly. "You're one of the coolest chicks I know."

"HEY CHRIS, WE'RE STOPPING FOR FOOD," Ricky yelled from the front of the bus. "OH AND WE'RE MEETING UP WITH A FEW OTHER BANDS!" His voice was getting closer and his steps getting louder. "That is if our baby sitter lets us," he joked.
