Chapter 7: You Can Trust Me

Sonic's POV

I woke up to see the sun shinning through the curtains. I tried to sit up but I hurt myself in the process. "Owww.... ugh this hurts" I said wincing from the stinging pain. I looked at my clock to see it's 8:30am. I sighed, "well today is the day that everyone is going to try to make me talk" I said while looking at my bandages. I don't want them to know the truth, they could get hurt and I don't want to risk that. "What do I do?" I asked myself while looking around my room to see if I could think of something. I saw my backpack and I got an idea. "What if I run away?" I asked myself thinking if it's a good idea. I heard the door creak and made me get out of my thoughts. I look up to see it was Shadow. "Hey, morning, glad to see you're awake" Shadow said as he walked in with a plate of food. "How are you feeling?" Shadow asked while putting the plate of food down. "I'm alright" I said with a fake smile. "That's good" Shadow said. It was silent and it was pretty awkward. Shadow broke the awkward silence, "I brought you food, I thought you would be hungry" Shadow said grabbing the plate and handing it to me. "Thanks Shadow" I said grabbing the plate. There was eggs with bacon and toast. "You want something to drink?" Shadow asked me. "Yes, please" I said while eating my breakfast. "What would you like to drink?" Shadow asked while standing up. "Apple juice, please" I said. "Coming right up" Shadow said with a small smile. "Thanks Shadow" I said while smiling. This time this smile was a real one. He left and once he left I looked at my backpack. "Maybe it's best to run away, that way no one has to waste time worrying about me" I said while putting the plate down. I tried to get out of bed but I was still in pain that I was about to fall when all of sudden Shadow caught me. "I gotcha" Shadow said while sitting me back down on my bed. "Take it slow, you're not ready to walk just yet" Shadow said while putting the cup down. I sighed, "Sonic, you think you can tell me what happened to you last night?" Shadow asked me. I looked down and tried to think of an excuse. "I just fe-" Shadow cut me off before I could finish my sentence. "Sonic, don't lie to me" Shadow said while moving his hand to my hand. I saw his hand getting closer, so I moved my arm. Big mistake, he ended up touching my wrist. I tried to hold in the pain but I yelped. Shadow looked at me confused and looked at my wrists. "Sonic? Please tell me you didn't do what I think you did?" Shadow said starting to worry about me. "What are you talking about? I didn't do any-" I was cut off by Shadow unwrapping my bandage. He gasped and looked at me with so much worry. "Sonic, you need to stop this, please" Shadow said. I pulled my arm away from him and tried to run for the bathroom but failed. I was close to the bathroom and crawled as fast as I can before Shadow could grab me. "Sonic, wait, I just want to talk" Shadow said while running toward me. I got up and jumped in the bathroom and closed the door and locked it. "Sonic, please, don't do this, I just want to help you please" Shadow said while knocking on the door. I started crying and I heard Shadow slide down on the door. "Go *hiccup* away *hiccup*" I said while crying. "Sonic, please, you can trust me" Shadow said and I can hear him crying. Can I really trust him?

Shadow's POV

Sonic wouldn't open the door. I have to keep trying. I can't lose him. "Sonic please.... I care about you so much" I said. "Lock the door of my room" Sonic said while still crying. "Okay" I said while getting up to lock the door. I walked back to the bathroom. "Okay, I locked it" I said hoping he'll open the door. He opened the door and hugged me tightly. "Hey, it's going to be okay" I said while stroking his blue quills. We let go and I put my hand on Sonic's cheeks while wiping his tears away. "There, there, now, what happened?" I asked Sonic while looking into his emerald green eyes. "Promise *hiccup* you won't *hiccup* tell" Sonic said while crying. "I promise, it's okay, calm down" I said while wiping his tears. "Well, me and Jet have been dating for a while but I don't love him because h-h-he" Sonic said pausing his sentence. "What does Jet do to you?" I asked worried. "He abuses me" Sonic said while crying again. I hugged him tightly. I knew Jet was doing something and because of him, Sonic is depressed and is self harming himself. "Hey, it's okay, I'm not going to let him hurt you anymore, I promise" I said while stroking his quills again. "Shadow *hiccup* I'm scared" Sonic said with so much fear and sadness in his voice. I can't stand to see him like this. "It's okay, I'm here, I will protect you no matter what" I said while hugging him tighter. "I don't know what to do Shadow. I'm scared that if I break up with him, he'll hurt me and hurt my friends and I can't let him hurt you guys, especially you Shadow" Sonic said and I blushed at the last part. "Hey, I'm not going to let him hurt you or our friends" I said while looking at him. "Shadow, I-I-I think I'm falling in love with someone" Sonic said while blushing a bright red. I blushed, "oh and who is it?" I asked while looking into his emerald green eyes. We were both staring into each others eyes and we were getting closer and closer until we finally closed it. His soft peach lips connected to mine. I can't believe it, Sonic loves me and I love him. We broke the kiss and I looked at him. "Shadow, I-I-I love you" Sonic said blushing a deep red. I blushed a deep red, "I always have loved you Sonic. Took me longer to realize that" I said while chuckling. "That makes two of us" Sonic said while chuckling. We hugged and stayed there for what felt like an eternity. We heard a knock on the door and we both looked. "Shadow? Is everything alright in there?" Silver asked while knocking on the door. "Yeah, everything is just great" I said while smiling at Sonic. Sonic giggled, "Shadow?" Sonic called me. "Yes?" I said answering him. "I trust you" Sonic said while kissing my cheek. I smiled and kissed him.
