Chapter 16: Looking for the Perfect Gift

Sonic's POV

I was so happy that Silver and Scourge are finally with the ones they love. I smiled, "they're perfect for each other" I said while looking at them hug each other. Shadow looked at me. "They sure are" Shadow said. I looked at him and smiled. "I love you Shadow" I said and Shadow pulled me into a kiss. I forgot how passionate his kisses are. I broke the kiss and looked at Shadow's ruby red eyes. "I love you so much Sonic" Shadow said. "Awww" we looked to see our friends staring at us. We blushed a dark red. "Aww Sonic, you're blushing" Silver said and made me blush even more. "Sh-shut up" I said. "See, you do blush when you kiss Sonic, Shadow" Fleetway said. I looked at Shadow and he was blushing more. "Fleetway, I'm going to kill you" Shadow said. Fleetway backed up a bit further away from Shadow. We all laughed. Everyone left and it was just me, Shadow, Silver, and Mephiles. "Why did the others leave?" I asked curiously. "They, uh, had to do something" Shadow said nervously. "Do what?" I asked. Shadow looked at Mephiles and I got confused. "Hey Sonic, do you want to play a game?" Silver asked me. "But I-" I was cut off by Shadow. "Yeah, why don't you play a game with Silver, Sonic. I'm going to talk to Mephiles for a little bit" Shadow said. "Um, okay" I said. Shadow kissed my cheek and left the room with Mephiles to talk to him about something, but what is it? "So Sonic, do you want to play rock, paper, scissors, or I spy?" Silver asked me. Something tells me, this is going to be a long day. "Which ever one is okay with me" I said. "Great, I spy something blue" Silver said. Yup, this is going to be a long day. 

Shadow's POV

Me and Mephiles went out the hall to talk. "That was close" I said. "Yeah" Mephiles said. "You think Sonic is going to figure it out?" I asked. "As long as we distract him, he won't know" Mephiles said. "Right" I said in agreement. "You know this is nice of you to throw a party for Sonic" Mephiles said. "Well I do remember his birthday is tomorrow so I wanted to do something special for him" I said. "Good idea" Mephiles said. "I still need to buy a gift for Sonic but I don't want to leave him" I said. "Me and Silver can look after him while you're gone" Mephiles said. "Really?" I asked. "Yeah, besides, me and Silver already got gifts for Sonic, so we can stay and look after him" Mephiles said. "Thanks Mephiles" I said. "I'll let Sonic know I'm going out and be right back" I said while turning around. "Do you want me to call the others to see how they're doing with the decorations?" Mephiles asked me. "Yes, but don't let Sonic hear you" I said. "Don't worry, I'll make sure he doesn't" Mephiles said. "Good" I said. I opened the door and walked in. "I spy something blue" I heard Silver say. "It's me" Sonic said. "Right again" Silver said. Me and Mephiles chuckled. "Having fun my love?" I asked while walking towards Sonic. "Yeah, I'm having a blast" Sonic said with sarcasm. I chuckled and kissed his cheek. "Playing I spy I see" Mephiles said while putting his arm around Silver's waste. "Yeah, we were having fun, right Sonic?" Silver said looking at Sonic. "Yeah, fun" Sonic said. "How are you feeling Sonic?" Mephiles asked. "I'm feeling better, thank you" Sonic said. "That's great" Mephiles said. "Sooner or later, you'll be able to go home" Silver said. "I hope so, I want to go home" Sonic said. "Soon Sonic" I said. Sonic smiled and cuddled with me. "Sonic, I'll be right back. I'm going out and while I'm gone, Mephiles and Silver will look after you" I said. "Where are you going?" Sonic asked. "In town, I'll be back soon, okay?" I said. "Okay but please be safe" Sonic said. "I will, don't worry" I said and kissed his forehead. I stood up and was about to leave until. "Wait" Sonic said and grabbed my hand. He pulled me and kissed me on the lips. I kissed back. I broke the kiss and smiled. "I'll be back, my love" I said. "Okay, I love you" Sonic said. "I love you too" I said. I left and headed to town. "Okay, so what would be the perfect gift for Sonic?" I asked myself. I looked around stores but I don't see anything that would be perfect. I walked around more until I saw something. I walked up to the store and looked through the window. There was a golden heart shaped necklace. I walked into the store and took a closer look. "May I help you sir?" a women asked me. "Yes, how much is this necklace" I asked. "Oh well that necklace is $140 dollars" she said. "Hm" I said. "You seem like a nice guy, for a discount, you can put a name on the necklace" she said. That would be perfect for Sonic but will he like it? "The necklace can also open, so you can put a picture in it" she said. "Hmm well, I'll take it then" I said. "Great" she said. We walked to the cash register and she started to enter the numbers. "So is this for the lucky girl?" she asked. "Well more like lucky guy" I said a bit nervous. "That's sweet, don't worry, I don't judge. I support it" she said. "Thank you" I said. "Alright, now what would you like me to put on the necklace?" she asked. "Can you put the name, Sonic?" I asked. "Of course, I'll be right back" she said. I waited for 15 minutes and she came back. "Alright sir, that will be $80 dollars" she said. "I thought it would cost more" I said. "Just between you and me, I gave you a bigger discount" she said. I smiled, "thank you" I said. I paid for the necklace and she gave it to me in a little box. "Have a nice day sir and I hope he loves the gift" she said. I chuckled, "thank you, have a nice day" I said. I walked out the store and headed to the hospital. I took out the necklace and opened it. I took out a picture and put it inside the necklace. I put the necklace back in the box and put it in my pocket. I hope Sonic will like it. I walked in the hospital and went to Sonic's room. I opened the door to see Sonic asleep while Mephiles and Silver were talking. "Hey Shadow" Silver said. "Hey, how long has Sonic been asleep?" I asked while closing the door slowly. "For an hour" Mephiles said. "Did you find what you were looking for?" Silver asked. "Yeah, I hope he will like it" I said. "I'm sure he will love it" Mephiles said. "So tomorrow we're taking him home?" Silver asked. "Yeah, have you called the others?" I asked. "Yeah, they said they have the decorations ready and they'll make the food tomorrow so they said to bring him home at 2 o'clock" Mephiles said. "Alright, perfect" I said.
