Chapter 9: Nightmares

Sonic's POV

For once I was happy and my smiles were real. I was talking to Silver and Scourge. "I'm so happy for you Sonic" Silver said with a big smile. "Yeah blue, glad you found someone better" Scourge said with a small smile. "Thanks you guys" I said with a smile. Rouge and Knuckles were talking and I can see Knucklehead blushing. Tails is teasing Knuckles and it's so funny and I see Shadow talking to Mephiles and Fleetway. I turned to see Silver looking at Mephiles and I can see Scourge glancing at Fleetway. "ooooooh you guys are crushing on them" I said in a teasing way. They both looked at me and blushed a bright red. "Very funny blue" Scourge said while looking away. "Awww, you two look so cute when you blush" I said with a smile. "Whatever" Silver and Scourge said at the same time. We continued talking until we saw Shadow chasing Mephiles and Fleetway around the whole house. Me and everyone else were laughing as they ran around the house. "So how are you feeling hun?" Rouge asked me. "I'm alright, a little sore and I still can't walk but other than that I'm alright" I said with a smile. "That's great hun" Rouge said while giving me a hug. "I'm glad you're feeling a bit better Sonic" Tails said with a smile. "Yeah and don't worry, we won't let Jet near you" Knuckles said with a small smile. "We got your back Sonic" Silver said while putting his hand on my shoulder. "We're your friends blue, we're always here for you" Scourge said. I smiled and cried tears of joy. "Thank you so much, I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys sooner" I said while looking at everyone except for Mephiles, Fleetway, and Shadow. "It's ok Sonic, just know we're always here for you" Tails said with a smile. "GOTCHA!" Shadow said tackling Fleetway and Fleetway grabbed Mephiles leg which made him fall too. "If I'm going down then you're going down with me too!" Fleetway said holding onto Mephiles leg. "Why do I have to? He caught you not me, now let go of my leg!" Mephiles said trying to get out of Fleetway's grip. "You two are so dead!" Shadow said about to punch them until I spoke up. "Um Shadow, what are you doing?" I asked as the three hedgehogs looked at me and the gang. "Yeah, what did you two do to make Shadow want to murder you?" Silver asked. The three hedgehogs blushed a bright red and got off of each other. "N-nothing!" all three of them said. We all looked at each other and then at them. Shadow walks up to me and sits next to me. "It's something stupid my love, don't worry" Shadow said while kissing my cheek. I giggled, "okay" I said while cuddling next to him. Mephiles sat down next to Silver and Fleetway sat down next to Scourge. "So you guys want to watch movie?" Rouge asked everyone. "Sure!" we all answered at the same time. "I'll get the popcorn" Knuckles said while going to the kitchen. "I'll get the sodas" Tails said. "I'll get the movie" Rouge said looking through to see what movie we should watch. "We'll get some blankets" Silver and Scourge said. "We'll come help you guys" Mephiles and Fleetway said. "And I'll stay here to keep you company, my love" Shadow said while holding me close. "Aww Shadow, I love you so much" I said while cuddling into his soft chest fur. "I love you too" Shadow said and kissed me on the lips and I kissed back. "AWWW" we stop kissing to see everyone looking at us. "That's so sweet" Fleetway said. Me and Shadow blushed a deep red. 

Time Skip

The movie ended and we all went to sleep. Shadow carried me to my room and laid my down on my bed. "Good night my love" Shadow said while kissing my cheek. "Shadow wait" I said while grabbing his hand before he could leave. "Yes?" Shadow said. "C-can you sleep here with me tonight?" I asked a little shy. Shadow smiled at me, "of course" Shadow said while laying down next to me. "Good night Shadow" I said while giving him a kiss on his cheek. We fell asleep and I was having a nightmare. "Jet, please don't hurt them, they're my family" I said with tears coming down from my cheeks. "You should have thought of that before getting them involved, cutie" Jet said while walking towards me. I see all my friends on the floor hurt covered with blood and bruises. What's even worse Shadow was in a worse condition than the others. "This is all your fault cutie, if you kept your mouth shut none of this would've happened" Jet said while pulling my arm. "You're just a weak, worthless, stupid, and pathetic hedgehog!" Jet said while throwing me to the ground. "Please don't hurt me" I said with fear in my voice. "Time to give you a punishment" Jet said while jumping on top of me. I woke up yelling, "NOOOOOOOO!" 

Shadow's POV

I was asleep and could have sworn that I felt Sonic toss and turn in his sleep. I heard Sonic yell, "NOOOOOOOO!" I woke up immediately to see Sonic crying and panting. "Sonic, what's wrong?! What happened?!" I asked while putting my hand on his cheeks. "I-I'm fine" Sonic said obviously lying. "Sonic I can tell when you lie, now what's wrong?" I asked. I see Sonic look at something to his left and I look to see what seems to be a sharp object. Oh no, he's going to cut himself. Sonic tries to reach for it but I pulled him into a hug. "Sonic, please don't hurt yourself, I can't stand to see you hurt yourself, please" I said while tears start to come out. "I-I'm sorry" Sonic said while crying. "You don't need to hurt yourself anymore, I'm here for you" I said hugging him tighter. Sonic cried and cried until I didn't hear him. I pulled away to see him asleep. I sighed and laid him down. I kissed his forehead and got out of bed. I grabbed his blade and then I went to check if he had one in his bathroom. Yup I was right, I took that one and left the room. I went to the kitchen to see Mephiles and Fleetway standing there. "Shadow, what are you doing awake?" Fleetway asked me while I got water. "Sonic had a nightmare and he almost wanted to cut himself" I said while showing them the blades. "Get rid of those, that way Sonic doesn't try to harm himself" Mephiles said. "Way ahead of you" I said while throwing them away. "Did he tell you what his nightmare was about?" Fleetway asked. "No, before I could ask, Sonic cried himself to sleep" I said looking down. I feel bad that Sonic has these nightmares. "That's horrible" Mephiles said. "But hey, you're there for him and him knowing that you're there, he'll stop having these nightmares" Fleetway said while putting his hand on my shoulder. "He's got a point Shadow, Sonic knows you'll always be there when he needs you the most" Mephiles said while putting his hand on my other shoulder. "Thanks guys, I just hope his nightmares go away soon" I said giving them a smile. I said good night to the guys and went to back to Sonic's room. I see Sonic tossing and turning again and I immediately ran to him and shook him a little. "Sonic wake up" I said trying to wake him up. He didn't wake up and so I tried again. "Sonic please wake up" I said while putting my hands on his shoulders. He woke up panting. "I-I'm sorry, I did it again, didn't I?" Sonic asked while he put his ears down. I hugged him tightly. "Sonic, it's ok, I'm here for you, I will always protect you" I said while stroking his quills. "Can I cuddle with you while I sleep?" Sonic asked me shyly. "Of course, I'm here for you and if you have a nightmare and wake up, just talk to me, okay?" I said so he can feel a little better. "Okay, thank you Shadow" Sonic said and laid back down. "Anything for you my love" I said while laying down next to him and I held him close to me. Sonic laid his head on my chest fur and I wrapped my arms around his waist. Through the whole night, Sonic didn't have nightmares. I smiled in my sleep, knowing he feels safe with me.
