Chapter 17: Surprise!

The next day

Sonic's POV

I fell asleep when Shadow left. I was having a nightmare. "Jet, please don't hurt Shadow" I said as tears started to stream down my cheeks. Shadow was on the floor not moving. "This is what happens when you don't listen cutie" Jet said. "No, please" I said. Jet kicks Shadow on the face. "UGH!" Shadow yelled in pain. "NO!" I yelled. Shadow tried to get up but Jet kicked him in the stomach. "AGH!" Shadow yelled. "STOP!" I yelled, begging him to stop. "Look at what you did cutie" Jet said. I looked around me and all my friends are hurt. "No...." I said as I covered my mouth with my hand. "Look at what you did Sonic" I heard Shadow's voice say. I turned around and looked at him. "Because of you, we're hurt" Shadow said. "Shadow, I-I d-didn't mean for this to happen" I said. "This is all your fault!" Shadow yelled. I stood there, slowly falling onto my knees. "He's right" I said in a low whisper. Jet pulls out a gun. "Say goodbye to your lover, cutie" Jet said. "NO!" I said and tried to stop him but I was too late. Jet pulled the trigger. Jet shot Shadow on the head. "SHADOW!" I yelled. "I'm all alone" I said as I stood frozen, looking at Shadow's lifeless body. Jet came behind me and whispered in my ear. "Don't worry cutie, I'm still here" Jet said while touching my body. "No, please" I said begging him to not do what I think he wants to do. "Come here cutie" Jet said and jumped on me. "NO!" I yelled and woke up yelling. "Sonic!? What's wrong?" I looked up to see Shadow, Mephiles, and Silver. "Sonic, breathe" Silver said, trying to calm me down. Shadow hugged me tight. "It's ok, it's ok, I'm here. Everything is going to be alright" Shadow said as he rocked me back and forth. I was crying and hugged Shadow tighter. "Shh, take it easy" Shadow said as he stroked my quills. I slowly started to calm down. Shadow let go of the hug but he still held me in his arms. He wiped away my tears and kissed my forehead. "Now, tell me what happened my love" Shadow said. "I-I h-had a nightmare" I said. "Oh Sonic, it's okay. We're here for you" Silver said. "That's what friends are for" Mephiles said. "Do you want to talk about it?" Shadow asked. "It was Jet, he hurt all of you guys, but, the worst thing is Jet shot you, Shadow. I was all alone. Then Jet wanted to...to...to" I couldn't finish the last part. "It's ok, I won't let him do that to you. I will always be by your side to keep you safe" Shadow said. "R-really?" I asked. "Of course, I love you" Shadow said. "I love you too" I said and kissed him on the lips. He kissed back and his kiss is so passionate. I broke the kiss and smiled at him. "Aww cute" Silver said. "We have good news" Mephiles said. "What is it?" I asked. "We're taking you home today" Silver said. "Really?" I asked with excitement. "Yup, the doctor said you're all set to go home" Shadow said. "Yay!" I said. "When do we leave?" I asked. Shadow looks at Mephiles. "It's 12 pm" Mephiles said. "We'll leave at 1:30 pm" Shadow said. "Aww, I wanted to leave now" I said as I pouted. They all chuckled. "Soon Sonic" Silver said.  "Fine" I said. 

Time Skip

It was 1:30 pm yay! Time to go home! "Can we go now?" I asked eagerly to leave. Shadow chuckled, "yes, we can go home now" Shadow said. "Yay!" I yelled excited. I tried to stand but I fell. Shadow caught me before I could hit the floor. "Take it easy, I know you're excited but take it slow" Shadow said. I chuckled, "sorry, I forgot that I can't walk that well" I said. "It's alright, I'll help you" Shadow said. He put his arm around my waist and put my arm around his shoulder. "Alright, ready?" Shadow asked. "Yes!" I said. 

Shadow's POV

Sonic is so excited to go home. I hope he likes the surprise. I helped him walk out of the hospital. We stopped in front of the hospital. "Why are we stopping?" Sonic asked. "Mephiles and Silver are going to pick us up" I said. "Oh ok" Sonic said. While we waited, Sonic's tail was wagging. I smiled, "I can see you're very excited, my love" I said. "Yes!" Sonic said with excitement. "Do you know what day it is today?" I asked. "Um, Wednesday?" Sonic asked. Does he not remember his birthday is today. "Yes, but today is a special day" I said. "Really? Why?" Sonic asked. "Well last time I remember, it's someone's birthday" I said with a smile. "It's my birthday!" Sonic said with excitement. I chuckled, "oh really birthday boy?" I asked in a teasing way. Sonic giggled, "yes, I can't believe I forgot my own birthday" Sonic said. Mephiles and Silver pulled up. I helped Sonic get in the back seat. "You guys ready?" Mephiles asked. "Yes" I said. "By the way, happy birthday Sonic" Mephiles said. "Yeah! Happy birthday Sonic!" Silver said. "Thanks you guys" Sonic said with a smile. I smiled, knowing he's okay and safe. Mephiles started to drive and Sonic was having fun talking to Silver. I whispered "is everything ready?" I asked. Mephiles whispered, "yeah, they said to send them a text when we're close to the house" Mephiles said. I whipered, "okay" I said. We were getting close to Sonic's house. Mephiles whispered, "send the text to them" Mephiles said. I nodded and got my phone out. I texted Rouge, letting her know we're close to the house. Mephiles parked the car in front of the house. "We're here" Mephiles said. "Yay!" Sonic said. I got out of the car and helped Sonic. We walked to the door. Mephiles opened the door and let me and Sonic walk in. We walked in and it was dark. "Why is it dark?" Sonic asked. The lights turned on, "SURPRISE!" everyone yelled. "No way" Sonic said. He smiled, "you guys did this for me?" Sonic asked. "Well of course hun" Rouge said. "It was Shadow's idea" Fleetway said. Sonic looked at me, "Shadow, this was your idea?" Sonic asked. "Of course, I wanted to do something special for you" I said. "Shadow that's so sweet" Sonic said. "Wel- mph" Sonic kissed me on the lips and I kissed back. I broke the kiss and smiled. "Thank you Shadow, I love you" Sonic said. "I love you too Sonic" I said. "Aww" everyone said. "Come on lovebirds, let's get this party started!" Fleetway said. We all laughed and started to have fun.
