Chapter 3: Hiding Secrets

Shadow's POV

I can tell Sonic isn't telling me the truth and I need to figure out what is going on with him. I've never seen so much pain in his emerald green eyes. Somehow I feel protective around Sonic, I don't know what's happening to me. Maybe it's nothing to worry about it, oh well. We were working  on our math work and I can see that Sonic is having a bit of trouble. "Sonic do you need help?" I asked looking at him. "Um no, I can do this" Sonic said with determination to do it on his own. "Well if you need help just tell me, I'll be glad to help you out" I said with a small smile. "Thanks Shadow" Sonic said with a small smile. His smile is so cute, wait what did I just say. Could it be possible that maybe I like Sonic more than a friend? 15 minutes passed, "Shadow.... can you help me?" Sonic said with defeat in his voice. I looked at him and smiled. "Hey don't worry, you'll get the hang of this math in no time" I said with a smile and I can see Sonic smiling. "Thanks Shadow" Sonic said feeling a bit better. Class ended and it was time for gym class. "Ready Sonic?" I asked looking at him. "Yeah, let's go to gym class" Sonic said while sounding a bit scared. We were about to walk to gym class until "Hey you guys" Fleetway said walking towards us with Scourge, Mephiles, and Silver. Sonic looked relieved and that made me get a bit suspicious. "Hey you guys!" Sonic said with happiness in his voice. He talked with Silver and Scourge while I talked with Mephiles and Fleetway. "Hey Shadow, do you think something is up with Sonic?" Fleetway asked me glancing at Sonic. "Hmm, well I have been getting suspicious when Jet comes near Sonic" I said glancing at Sonic. "Knuckles was asking me if I noticed anything wrong with him but I always see him happy" Mephiles said glancing at Sonic. "You don't think he's hiding something?" Fleetway asked looking at me and Mephiles. We all looked at each other and started to think. "Maybe he is but what exactly is he hiding?" Mephiles said. "Whatever it is we need to find out, Knuckles and Tails are getting worried about Sonic" Fleetway said looking at Sonic for a second. "You're right, let's figure this out later, right now we got class to do" I said while heading inside the locker room. 

Time Skip

Sonic's POV

Gym class ended and we were heading to lunch. I was talking with Silver and Scourge, we were having a fun time. "Hehe, it's always a great time with all of us together" Silver said with so much excitement. "Calm down Silver, you're getting too excited" Scourge said with a small smile. These guys always know how to put me in a good mood but I still have to hide my pain from them. We were about to head inside the cafeteria until I heard a familiar voice. "Hey Sonic, you are going to sit with me in the cafeteria right?" I turned around and saw it was Jet trying to act normal. "Um Sonic, why don't you sit with us?" Fleetway asked standing in front of me. I looked at everyone and then at Jet. "I uh, I think I'll go with Jet" I said to everyone and everyone were looking at me. "Are you sure, blue?" Scourge asked me looking a bit concerned for me. "Yeah, absolutely, I'm sure" I said with a fake smile. "Well if you really mean it" Silver said still not convinced that I want to go with Jet. They all went in the cafeteria but Shadow looked at me and his ruby red eyes showed so much worry. "Come on Sonic we're going somewhere else" Jet said grabbing my hand and dragging me to the bathroom. "Oh no, he's going to hurt me again" I thought to myself. "Now cutie, I'm not going to hurt you this time, your friends are getting suspicious so I'm not going to hurt you until after school" Jet said looking at me. "Wait, I have to go with you after school?" I asked scared that Jet will get mad at me. "Is there a problem with that?" Jet asked looking at me with a mad face. "N-no, there's no problem!" I immediately said. "Good and don't even bother trying to get out of it" Jet said looking at me. I sighed, "Okay Jet..." I said looking down. "You can go to your friends but I'm keeping my eye on you, so, don't try anything got it?" Jet asked squeezing my hand tighter. "Y-y-yes Jet!" I yelled from pain and started to tear up a bit. "Good, I'll see you later cutie" Jet said while leaving me alone in the bathroom. What am I going to do, Jet is going to hurt me at his place and I'm scared. I started to cry and looked at myself in the mirror. "You're nothing Sonic, you're just a pathetic hedgehog who can't handle anything, that's why you have a miserable life" I said to myself while looking down at my wrists. I can't use my blade here, what if someone walks in? What if it was my friends who saw me like this? I sighed, "come on Sonic, you gotta get out there and keep this secret to myself, no matter how bad it gets" I said to myself while wiping my tears away and walking out the bathroom. I walked into the cafeteria and see my friends talking and smiling. I wish I can tell them what's going on. I saw Jet with his friends but he was watching me so I can't do anything. "Hey blue, you're back" Scourge said while leaning back. "Yeah, it's good to see you came back to sit with us" Silver said very happy to see me. "Hehe yeah, it's good to be back" I said trying to sound happy. "Remember Sonic, don't tell them your secret or you'll know what will happen to you if you tell" I thought to myself. I have to keep this a secret.
