The ride to the hospital was anything but loud. The silence became unbearable at one point and we were both anxious to get to Octavia and Raven. Bellamy's shaking hand repeatedly tapped on the blank dashboard and he was too scared to notice what he was doing. I grabbed his hand and held it in mine, trying to console him the best I could.
We made eye contact for a second when he averted his eyes back on the road. "I should have picked all of you up," he mentioned, still holding my hand tightly.
"Stop it. Don't blame yourself."
"I just...I should have known better. She was probably drunk off her mind, right?" His eyebrows furrowed and it looked like he was about to cry. He reminded me about the state that Octavia was in when I left with Bellamy. I barely remember anything because I was drunk, but little flashes of Octavia mentioning an Uber recovered in my mind.
"She's going to be alright, okay?" I tried to convince us both, but to no avail. He made a sharp turn into the hospital's parking lot and we both scurried out of the car and into the lobby.
"Officer Blake," the young receptionist fluttered her eyelashes flirtatiously at Bellamy in recognition. "How may I assist you today?"
"My sister...Octavia Blake. I need to see her as soon as possible," he choked out as smoothly as possible.
The girls face quickly dropped. "I'm sorry, Officer, but she's in critical at the moment. You won't be able to see her for at least—," Bellamy interrupted her.
"I don't care! I don't care where she is right now! I need to know that she is okay!" His sudden outburst had everyone in the waiting room scared shitless, but I ran up and positioned myself between him and the desk.
"Bell," I put one hand on his chest and the other on his jaw, guiding his gaze to my eyes. "I know this is hard for you, okay? I get it, but yelling at people and taking everything out on yourself isn't going to help Octavia get through this...," his head fell to my chest and he began to sob, wrapping his arms around my waist. I brushed my hand through his hair, trying to comfort him as best as I could without crying.
"Bellamy! Clarke!" A voice called for us. I saw Raven make her way towards us and her tears highlighted her unkempt state. "I'm so sorry. We were so stupid."
"I thought you were taking an Uber, Raven? What the fuck were you guys thinking?!" I scolded her, Bellamy let go of me.
"I know, I know," she sniffles. "We weren't thinking."
"It's okay. You're okay. You are okay, right?"
"I-I don't know," she stuttered, her eyes widening. "All I can see is Octavia just laying there after—," she started to sob when I cut her off.
"Okay..um...," I tried no to cry with them. All three of us sat in the waiting room for any news. Hopefully good news.
"My sister, my responsibility," Bellamy mumbled beside me and I enlaced our fingers. They didn't know it, but I was silently praying to God that she would make it out alive. She needed to. I just didn't want to make them lose their hope if I broke down in front of them.
