I took a light nap, afraid that if I'd fallen into a deep sleep, nightmares of Roan would appear.

I finally got the rest that I'd been aching for. In fact, it felt like my body was numb--I couldn't move it, and when I did it felt weird. So I stayed put and listened to Bellamy talk with Murphy down the hall. Bellamy left my door open when he went to go get me water and I could see his dark, disheveled hair through the crack of the door.

"My girl is hanging on," Bellamy said, my heart soaring. I think I'm okay though, I just want to see my mom and my friends.

"She wasn't, you know...rap--," Bellamy cut Murphy off.

"No, we brought a doctor in, he didn't touch her like that," Bellamy sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Like that," he repeated. "So help me God, if I ever get my hands on that bastard I will--," Murphy puts his hand on Bellamy's shoulder.

"I know the feeling, man," Murphy mentioned Raven's unforgettable night at my mom's bachelorette party. I wondered how she really recovered from that incident. She only told us that Murphy got her through it. For some reason I never told my mom about what happened.

My mom. Her wedding. Shit.

My body cried and groaned as I sat forward off of the hospital bed. Bellamy came rushing in.

"Hey, princess, I got you your water," he lifted the bottle up to my mouth, stroking a strand of my hair behind my ear. I swatted his hands away and grabbed the bottle playfully.

"I'm not a baby, Bellamy," I joked. Murphy then entered with a teddy bear in hand.

"Hey, C," he handed me the bear. "How are you feeling?"

"Like chocolates would have been better," I tried to lighten the mood but no one laughed.

Awkward.

I gulped. "So where are my girls?" I asked, hoping they wouldn't change the subject to me.

"They don't know you're here yet," Murphy answered and Bellamy nudged him for saying so. Why wouldn't they tell my best friends?

"You didn't call them?" My eyebrows creased in confusion. Bellamy and Murphy both shook their heads. "Well, why not?"

"I wanted you to get all better before they suffocated you with hugs," Bellamy answered.

"I'm fine," I shrugged, but then remembered the night before. "At least, I am now." I think so.

Bellamy shook his head again. "You're in denial, princess. It will hit you in an hour or two and then you won't be okay. I will be there for you when that happens.

"Ha. And you were always the one who said I never needed a boy to rescue me," I reminded him.

"I'm no boy." And I didn't need him to tell me that. Because, well, he was pure man. Everything about him screamed masculinity. I blushed.
