Draco's P.O.V

I woke up early, Granger's words echoing in my mind—her accusation that I was nothing, and the sting of my slap against her cheek. Was she right? Am I just a coward?

With a tray of food in hand, I made my way to her room. She was asleep, her peaceful expression a stark contrast to the turmoil in my mind.

Carefully, I placed the dish in front of her, and she stirred, her brown eyes meeting mine. They were surprisingly beautiful, despite the circumstances, and her hair was messy yet somehow still pretty.

But I quickly shook off any thoughts of admiration. She was a Mudblood—Granger. I couldn't afford to think of her in any other way.

"I'm sorry about yesterday," she said, her voice soft with sincerity.

I regarded her carefully. "What are you trying to do, Granger? Befriend me so you can escape?" I retorted, my guard still firmly in place.

"I was just trying to apologize, Malfoy," she replied, her tone pleading.

"Whatever," I muttered, unwilling to let down my defenses.

"I don't believe you're nothing. Not like you believe I am," she persisted, her words catching me off guard.

I couldn't help but wonder what she meant. "And what's that supposed to mean, Granger?" I asked, my eyes narrowing.

"Last year, when everyone thought you were a Death Eater, I was the only one who didn't," she confessed, her sincerity piercing through my facade.

Her words struck a chord within me, but I couldn't allow myself to show weakness. "And what does that prove, Granger?" I countered, my tone icy.

"I believe you can change, Draco. Dumbledore already gave you a chance, and I'm willing to give you a second one," she said earnestly.

"No one can change their destiny, Granger," I replied, my resolve unwavering.

"Then change yourself, Malfoy. You can do better," she urged, her words lingering in the air like a challenge.

Ignoring what she said, I instructed her to finish her meal, but her words echoed in my mind, stirring something deep within me. Perhaps, just perhaps, there was a glimmer of truth in what she said.

"Then change yourself, Malfoy. You can do better."
