"Jax!" Miles screamed from across the classroom. He ran over and jumped over a desk. Jax finished typing his text and set down his phone. Miles sat down in his chair and him and Jax fist bumped.
"What's up Miles?" Jax asked with a smile. Miles loved Jax's smile.
"I'm doing good, how 'bout you?" Miles asked back.
"I'm doing great, man," Jax replied. Truth is, Jax wasn't great. He wasn't even good. Jax put his hand on his head. He felt like his skull was being torn apart by a vice. But, he wouldn't tell Miles that.
"Your lying," Miles said condescendingly. He was always able to tell when Jax was lying. Guess that's what happens when you've known someone for 13 years.
Jax squeezed his eyes tight. "I have a headache that's all," Jax answered. Miles raised an eyebrow. Just then, the bell rung. The sound sent a chill down his spine.
Miles turned back to the front of his seat. The teacher walked in and wrote down directions on the board. Jax opened his book to the page on the board.
Miles pulled out his phone and texted Jax.
Miles:Jax what's going on?
Jax felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out to reply to Miles.
Jax: im ok I swear
Miles looked back at his phone and responded to Jax.
Miles: sure you are
Jax ignored the text and continued to work. His vision was blurry, so reading about the "music theory" was kind of difficult.
After a grusomly long 45 minutes, the bell rung for second period, which Jax and Miles also shared.
Jax waited for Miles outside of the class. "Are you sure you're okay, dude?" Miles asked again. Jax furrowed his brow, the way Miles found cute.
Jax felt a wave of dizziness come over him. He grabbed onto the wall. Miles rushed over and stood behind him. "I'm fine Miles. I just have a headache," Jax finally confessed. He took a step forward, got dizzy, and grabbed the wall again.
"Are you really sure you're fine?" Miles asked again. Jax heard his phone buzz. He turned to lean his back on the wall.
Next thing they hear is the overhead speakers say,"Jax Garder to the office, Jax Gardner to the office." Miles raised an eyebrow at Jax. He shrugged and hugged the wall as he walked to the office. His heart fluttered in his chest.
Did I do something wrong? Is it about my grades? I know they're bad but not that bad. These thoughts flew through his head. He opened the door to the office. He saw his mom and his principal sitting in there.
"You may come in, Jackson," Mr.Durani said to Jax. Jax walked in and shut the door. "Jax, please take a seat." He followed the orders of the principal.
Jax twisted the ring that was on his middle finger, one of his nervous ticks. "What's going on?" Jax asked anxiously. He tapped his hand on the arm of his chair.
His mom put her hand on his shoulder. He saw a tear form in the corner of her eye. She wiped it away quickly, hoping Jax didn't see. "Honey, I got your results. And, they're not good," she said with tears falling on to her cheeks. "Jax, you have cancer."
I decided to restart this story. It didn't really work the way I wanted it to before. So here we go again. Ima try to stick to a writing schedule.
