Jax and Miles stayed silent through the whole car ride. They eventually reached Miles' house after a grusome 30 minute ride. "You're gonna have to drive home. Can you do that?" Jax nodded his head and took the keys from Miles with a shaky hand.
They both got out of the car. Miles walked up and pulled Jax into a hug. Jax felt safe, secure. "Thanks for always being here, Miles," Jax said pulling himself out of the hug.
"Don't mention it man. If you need me to come to any appointments, I'm there," Miles replied placing his hand on Jax's shoulder. Jax smiled and sat in the front seat of his car. He watched as Miles walked into his house.
Jax pulled out of Miles' driveway as carefully as possible, making sure not to hit anything. The drive was scary. His vision blurred, his world spinning. He eventually pulled into his driveway.
Jax sat in his car while he texted Miles.
Jax: got home safe
Miles: good. See ya tmr?
Jax: yea see ya
Jax stepped out of his car and into his house. His mom was sitting on the couch watching TV. "Hey Mom." Jax greeted his mother and sat down.
"How was the rest of your day sweetie," his mom asked. He just shrugged and pulled out his phone. "Your doctor called to tell me your next appointment is Friday. Do you need me to go?" Jax once again just shrugged his shoulders. He and his mom haven't been close since his dad left.
Jax put his phone in his pocket. "Can I just get Miles to go? He actually understands this." His mom nodded and he went up to his room. Jax pulled his phone out again to text Miles.
Jax: Can you go with me on Friday?
Miles: Sure man. What time is it?
Jax: 4:30 right after school
Miles: yea. Will you be at school or nah?
Jax: yeah you think I'd deprive people of my presence?
Miles: 😂😂 ofc you wouldn't. Gtg see ya tomorrow
Jax:yea see ya
Jax looked at the time, 6:15. He pulled out his math text book and started studying. After about 5 minutes of trying to study, Jax felt the nagging headache coming back.
He stumbled into his bathroom and found the bottle of painkillers. He took two of the pills and went to lie down. After another two hours the headache still hadn't been touched. Jax fumbled with his phone until he reached Miles' contact. He pressed the call button.
One ring, two rings, three rings. Finally Miles picked up. "Hey."
"Hey Miles."
"You ok? You sound like crap."
"I know. My head is killing me and painkillers haven't touched it. "
"That sucks. What did you take?"
"Asprin. It's what I had near me, why?"
"That never works. You should go with ibuprofen. Works way better."
"Thanks man. I thought you would be able to help."
"No problem. See you tomorrow."
"Yeah. Bye."
Jax hung up the phone and went down stairs to take Miles' advice.
