here are some of the scariest websites that you can visit. i've only been brave enough to visit one, however. have fun surfing!

1. white enamel

this site is an online game where you walk through an abandoned psychiatric hospital. i'm not gonna play this one, cause i have an irrational fear of hospitals of ANY kind. also, knowing these kinds of games, i'm pretty sure this psych ward is not as abandoned as it seems.

2. best gore

this one, as you might have discovered, is a gore site. for those of you who don't know (or can't guess), gore sites feature disturbing images of gory shit like beheadings and dismemberment. the canadian owner was thrown in prison but contributors still post on the site.

3. plane crash info

this site gives you plane crash accident statistics, reports, maps, photos and the last words of victims. you can even listen to mp3s of crashes. if you're scared of flying, this is not a site for you.

4. death map

this is a real-time simulation of everyone dying around the world, right at this second. if you want something a bit more positive, you can also look at all the births.

5. hashima island

on hashima island, you can look around a "forgotten world" off the coast of japan. the creepiest thing about this is that hashima island is a real place. the site uses google street view to make it seem like you're really on this eerie island.

6. death date

this is the one site i've tried. by putting in some details about yourself, it will predict the date of your death. i'm going to die at 80 on the 29th of december, 2085. i'm happy with that.

7. death row information

this site does what it says on the tin - it gives you information about executions coming up, the people currently on death row, and you can even read the last words of the inmates. all the information is from the texas department of criminal justice.

8. bongcheon-dong ghost

this is an online comic that is incredibly disturbing and will probably scare the shit out of you. most people can't spend more than a minute on it, and it comes with a trigger warning. this is the site i would most recommend you don't visit, unless you have a VERY strong stomach.

9. cryptomundo

cryptomundo is full of conspiracy theories about monsters, and is full of blog posts of guys describing their trips to try and find made-up beings like bigfoot or chupacabras. i might check that one out.

10. fifth nail

this was - or is - the blog of convicted serial killer and sex offender joseph e duncan iii. even though he's in prison, the blog is still updated rarely, as he apparently sent handwritten posts for someone to type up. a site for anyone who wants to see inside the mind of a serial killer.

11. darwin time

this one is a collection of conspiracy theories (another one for me to visit!) and disturbing images. the near-incoherent front page has photos of everything from hitler to woodstock, and talks about the need for a world revolution. and all the thousands of hyperlinks embedded in the text actually work.

12. skyway bridge

this is one of the saddest. on this site, you can track the suicide jumps made from florida's skyway bridge, the 4th most popular suicide bridge in the us. you can even go back through the archives and see how long people have been jumping throughout history.

13. a columbine site

another true one, this site has videos and documents you never wanted to learn about the 1999 shooting at columbine high school. you can see videos of the killers before they were killers and trace their route through the school on the day. but beware: this site does have very disturbing content.

14. rate my poo

this is probably one of the weirdest sites on the internet. you upload a picture of your shit, and people rate the photos. you can see the age and gender of the shitter and the date. the site raises one main question: who is it even for?

i got the list from ranker.com.

this is just the scariest sites on the clean web. there's some WAY worse shit on the dark web like red rooms. maybe i'll do a chapter about that soon?
