we all know the story of flight mh370. it was an international passenger flight that mysteriously disappeared on march 8th, 2014 (nearly six years ago today — wow does time fly). it departed from kuala lumpur, malaysia and was flying to beijing, china. it was a boeing 777 aircraft and carried 239 passengers, the majority of which were from china.
the plane took off from kuala lumpur international airport at at 12:41 am, malaysian time, and was scheduled to land in beijing at 6:30am. at 1:19 am, 38 minutes after takeoff, the plane disappeared from air traffic control radar screens, but could still be seen on military radar as it mysteriously veered off the course it was supposed to follow. it eventually disappeared from military radar at 2:22am.

the final transmission heard from the flight were the pilots, who said "goodnight malaysian three seven zero." it was later determined that the plane flew until approximately 8:11am due to a satellite that detected the last signal from the plane at that time. the plane was searched for in many areas for a long time with no results and soon became the most expensive search in aviation history.
flight 370 is believed by authorities to have kept going on the path it switched to and eventually ended up over the indian ocean, where it is thought to have ran out of fuel. after years of searching, the main significant confirmed debris — a flaperon of the plane — was found on an island in the western indian ocean in july 2015. most other found debris is only said to be possibly from mh370 and remains unconfirmed.

although the resting place of flight 370 is thought to be the indian ocean, the mystery as to why and how it got there remains, as well as if it is actually true. over half a decade later, speculation on the missing aircraft remains, as it is still the greatest unsolved case in aviation history. this thread contains five theories and the details to back them up.
