Alexa's POV

I managed to work around all the pain in my chest. I knew that Remus would put two and two together once I got back to my time. I had told him the secret. I knew I could trust him to keep it quiet, though. Remus was a trustworthy person, one who would keep his word. Remus and I always hung out, talking quietly about pranking the other Marauders when they weren't paying any attention. A few times, I saw Tom Riddle following us around, listening.

I had started to talk to Tom, finding that he was somewhat attracted to me. I didn't really know why, but he was. Remus seemed to notice this and grew more protective of me around others. Especially Tom. Remus didn't trust him after what I had said. I also told him that Peter would betray Lily and James to Voldemort, or Tom Riddle, whichever name you prefer.

I was walking around the castle on my own when a hand shot out a grabbed me. I gasped and whipped around to see none other than Lucius Malfoy standing there with a few of his Slytherin friends.

"Time to show the Mudblood where she belongs," Lucius hissed angrily.

And then the pain set in. Screams tore from my lips as it hit me again and again.

Remus' POV

I was trying to find Vanessa as I walked around the castle. I heard a sudden scream and tensed up.

"Vanessa," I whispered, whipping my wand out.

She had taught me everything she had already been taught in her time, so I knew a few good hexes. I ran off to the source of the screams, passing the other Marauders as I did. They quickly followed me, pulling out their wands. I ignored them as I ran as fast as I could to help my friend.

Rounding a corner, I found a group of Slytherins attacking Vanessa with spells. Sirius' face contorted in similar pain upon hearing the curse being used. There was determination in his eyes as he stormed forward with us.

"GET OFF HER!" I shouted.

The Slytherins stopped in surprise and looked up at us. Lucius smirked.

"What are you going to do?" he sneered.

Without a word, I raised my wand and sent hex after hex at him until he was on the floor in shock. I had used second year level hexes and jinxes on him, which is what caught him off guard. Not to mention, I hadn't said a word. My anger was pulsing through my veins, a fire lit in my eyes as I advanced.

"You will not touch her again," I snarled, sounding like the wolf I was inside.

Lucius stumbled to his feet as he kept a wary eye on me. I slowly crouched down and took Vanessa's hand in mine, gently pulling her to her feet and letting her lean on me.

"Sirius, could you help her?" I asked over my shoulder.

Sirius walked up and carefully took Vanessa from me as I kept my gaze on the Slytherins. They were starting to get uncomfortable with it and looked away. All except one. Bellatrix Black, Sirius' cousin.

"You sticking up for your girlfriend?" she asked.

"She's my friend," I spat back.

"Back off, Bella," Sirius hissed at her. "Leave our friend alone."

"Are all four of you her boyfriends?" Bellatrix asked me, ignoring Sirius.

I clenched my teeth to keep back an insult. I was supposed to be the calm one, not the one to get angry easily. But when it came to Vanessa, it was all different. She was, after all, my friend's daughter. I would protect her. If she died in this time, in her own time, it might be worse. I couldn't let that happen.
