Autumn
Jess and I are settling in to our apartment really well and looking forward to being roommates.
"Hey, I'm gonna go get us some food... to celebrate our moving in together" Jess stands from my bed has yet has no covers or pillows
"Sounds good, when you get back I'll break out the wine" we giggle and I watch her leave the room, then hear the door shut
I continue to watch makeup videos on YouTube as one girl does until I get a text from an unknown number
555-****- um hi
I swipe down the notification and think to myself, do I know this number? I couldn't put my finger on it. I type back
Me- I'm sorry, I don't recognise this number. Who is this?
I press send and the little bubble comes up to say that they are typing
555-****- Lucy. Look, can we meet up and talk? I'm sorry for what I did
Woah I was shocked, lucy and I had a huge argument. It was completely my fault so I'm confused why she is sorry
Me- oh sure, here is my address (address)
555-****- see you in 10
I quickly jump out of bed and shove a few boxes around so then it looks somewhat organised. Jess and I hardly have anything in our apartment except for our beds, sofa, bookshelf and stuff we need e.g (chargers, hair brush, makeup)
I continue to wait on the sofa until I hear our door bell. I make my way to the door and open it. My jaw dropped to see who it was
Justin.
I instantly start to slam the door but his foot gets in the way
"Hey! I just want to talk" he jumps in
"Well I don't, was that you on the phone?!" I slash back at his words
"Yes but I knew if I said I was lucy you would talk to me" he tried to follow me to the living room
"get out!" I holler pointing towards the door
"Ive come to apologise" he attempts to move closer to me but I move away swiftly
"APOLOGISE?! What you did what unacceptable and there is no way I could forgive you" I yell even louder
"I know, you don't know how many nights I've been crying over you. I should have told you the second I heard about it. And I'm sorry that it was my stupid idea to run away"
Flashback
A few weeks after Raegan died, Lucy had gone back to her home town for a while to calm down while Justin and I were still stuck doing nothing.
"Come on, we can't just keep moping forever" Justin cuddles towards me as we are in the middle of watching Grease
"I know but what do you expect us to do, I quite enjoy watching Raegan's favourite movies" I take another hand full of popcorn in my mouth
"Let's run away." He looks at me
"That's funny" I giggle thinking that he is joking around, I look at him and he is keeping the most serious face. I realise he isn't joking
"I'm serious, why not? No body is here to tell us not too. Your dads always away so he won't even notice, my dad is cool with whatever I choose to do... what do you say?"
" I don't know Justin... where would we even go?"
"Seattle! Come on, we won't be gone forever. A few months at the least. We need a break from here. And haven't you always wanted to travel"
"...Fine" he leaps with joy and hugs me
"Yay! We leave tomorrow so I would pack your things"
////////////// the next morning
"I can't believe we are doing this" I mope putting my suitcase in the back seat. I make my way to the front passenger seat
"It'll be fun I promise" Justin climbs into the drivers seat "okay so if we are going to make it there by the morning, we gotta take shifts in driving" he continues and I nod
"Let's hid the road" we head off.
Most of the trip was either of us switching while the other one sleeps, dancing to music, junk food runs and pits stops at gas station

I slowly wake up to the sound of Justin's phone
"Your destination is on your left"
I sit up and Itch my head "are we there yet?" Justin nods and we pull into this hotel, nothing to flashy but also not the kind of hotels that you see in movies where the showers are covered with maggots and the sheets have bedbugs.
Justin pays for our room and dump all of our shit on the floor. I run and jump on the bed
"this is comfy" I let out, I hear Justin giggle and he jumps on the bed with me we have a giggle fight until we calm down
"I'm going to take a shower, I'll be back" I get up and leave to go into the bathroom
Justin
Scrolling through my phone waiting for Autumn to come out. I see at the corner of my eye her phone is lit up and buzzing. I didn't know the number but I still answered
J- Justin U- Unknown
J- hello
U- hello this is Kim from the Minnesota hospital, is this Autumn Waters?
J- Um this is her boyfriend, what seems to be wrong
U- unfortunately Autumns father has been in an motorbike accident and he is in critical condition.
J- oh my god that's terrible, I will be sure to pass on the message
I hung up. Oh fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I have to tell her. But we just got here and I want to have fun.
She comes out "who was that on the phone babe?" I shot up, I quickly put her phone down and respond "oh, just my dad. He wanted to know if we got here safely"
"So what's the plan for tomorrow?" She questions drying her hair with a towel
"I think we should go mini golfing at this place I know" I suggest "sounds good"
"I'm so tired I am going to go to sleep" I turn off the lamp and climb into bed
She does the same
"Night"
