(DAYU)

We had the family meeting in Hua's room. Preventing any servants, even the twins' nannies to listen in on the conversation.

The meeting is about what Dao learned from Prince Jin's guards.

Hua, who still looked pale and fragile grew more worried.

"I knew it. I knew he will blame himself for this..." she said forlornly.

It's irritating me. To see my daughter worries about a Prince who is stupid enough to blame himself about the attack that resulted to Hua getting hurt and her gift being revealed.

Dao gave me a guilty look. He was the one who assumed that the Prince turned away from Hua because of Hua's gift. Dao was the one who supposed that the Prince couldn't take the shock of seeing the lady he likes fighting like a raging and unstoppable bull.

I feel guilty as well but not much. Yes, me blaming the Prince for hurting Hua is not good and me reporting it to Captain Wang resulted to my lover telling the Emperor that we are refusing the Prince for our daughter is irresponsible and drastic.

But I like the result. I don't like that Prince for my daughter, now more than ever. He is in danger. People are after him. Hua can get caught in that mess. No. It will be better for to Hua stay away from that Prince. In my opinion, the move of refusing the Prince is a good move in our part.

And I told my family that opinion.

"But I love him, Father. And he loves me," Hua look down at the flowery pattern on her cover.

I looked at Captain Wang who looked like he is sympathizing with our daughter. I poke Captain's back who gave me a surprised and guilty look.

"Look at her, she is so sad. And they love each other," Captain Wang and his soft heart is in control again. Hua got him wrapped around her little finger.

And I am not far behind him.

"Maybe...we can invite the Prince here. Secretly..." I said carefully.

Hua's head lift up fast. "Truly, Father?" Hope flashed in her eyes.

I smiled at my daughter. Like always, her happiness means the whole world to me. "Yes, Hua. We will try to get the Prince to meet and talk to you."

"Thank you, Father." Hua's smile is enough for me to not regret the words I uttered.

During dinner, I saw my daughter ate a bit more than she ate the last two days. She smiled and listened as I redress her wound. They are healing fine. A bit slower than I like but everything is still normal. The wound is not hot to touch, no pus coming out of it and it doesn't look raw unlike before. Meaning it's healing and there is no need to be alarmed by infection.

Captain Wang and I stayed in Hua's room as she sleeps after her nanny helped her to wash and change into her nightrobe. I sat at the edge of her bed and gently sweep my hand on her hair.

"She will be fine," Captain Wang put a hand in my shoulder. "She is strong, Dayu. Like you..."

"She is stronger than me. She has faith and trust in people. If it were me, I will abandon that Prince and run away..."

Much like what I did to Captain Wang when I had my final revenge.

"It's because you raised her to trust in people. Don't worry anymore. I will have a talk with the Emperor again." He promised me.

"Where did Dao go? It's deep in the night already..." I look back at him.

Captain Wang frowned, "He said something about meeting a friend. Maybe Ting or Wu..." He is talking about Dao's friends on the Lecture Halls.
