I let the night air cool down my body. I pulled Dayu's naked body closer to my nakedness and lean down to kiss him one more time before smiling at him.

"I love you, my heart." I uttered tenderly as I gaze at his lovely face. Dayu refused to age. He is still as beautiful as ever. And the fulfillment and enjoyment I feel whenever we make love burn brightly as ever.

Dayu nodded back his answer and hugged me tight. I enveloped him in my arms. Wanting to protect him.

"I don't trust Luau anymore," I said to Dayu after a few minutes of silent.

"I understand." Dayu whispered back.

"He is in cohort with the Emperor. His loyalty is now not reserved to you and Mei. I don't like it. Do you still trust him?" I lean out to look at Dayu's face.

Dayu thought for a few seconds before he nod, "I still trust him. I trained with him. I trained him. I know Luau's strength and weakness. I know he is loyal to Uncle Shu and in turn, to me and Mei. But it will be fine to me if you will be cautious about him. I don't need you to trust Luau blindly. But as long as he is not betraying me and Mei, I will keep on trusting him."

"But if he did? Betray you and Mei and our family?" I asked Dayu.

Dayu's eyes glinted with the shadows in our room. "It will be the last mistake he will commit. I will kill him myself,"

That answer satisfied me. I know Dayu won't be able to let Luau go entirely. Luau is part of Dayu's Uncle Shu's memory. But it is still reassuring to know that Dayu when thing go awry, he still prioritizes our family.

"How about Captain Jiang?" Dayu inquired at me. "Do you think he will truly pursue this connection to the Imperial Family?" There is worry on Dayu's tone and expression.

I share his worry. "I don't know. I will talk to him the moment he got back from SiChuan. I also want to know what he is planning with this offer from the Emperor."

"I worry that the offer was made by Luau and Uncle Feng. That they offer our ShuYin for Prince Han." Dayu said with a sigh.

I was thinking of that too. Did the Emperor get his interest on ShuYin from Luau and Governor Feng or did he planned to align himself with Jiang from the start? It's a puzzle we have to solve and answer.

I look at Dayu again, "What will you do if the idea came from you Uncle and Luau?"

"If Luau and Uncle Feng volunteered ShuYin to the Emperor, I don't know what I will do. I don't know what Mei would do. They are putting ShuYin in danger. The Palace is a dangerous place. What can a six year old girl do in a place like that?"

"I doubt if Mei will let the Emperor take his daughter while ShuYin is still young. And Jiang will not agree to that," I said.

Dayu nodded, "You are right. They are both crazy about ShuYin. Ang besides, Mei will consult me and I can advice him not to part with ShuYin yet. A girl needs her parents love. And her parents are Mei and Jiang."

I nodded, "I will support you and Mei in your decision. If I have to have words with the Emperor, I will do it." I promised him.

Dayu's eyes shone in happiness, "Thank you, Captain. For you support to me and to my cousin. I hope you will always be my ally,"

"Of course, my heart." I hugged Dayu close again. "Sleep and rest assured that I will always be by your side to support you." I pulled the blanket higher to cover our bodies.

I felt Dayu sighing softly before leaning heavily into me. I breathed with him and close my eyes until I felt Dayu falling deeply asleep.

My heart can rest peacefully tonight. I am here to protect him.
