i walked to the park where daniel and i were supposed to meet. i sat down on a bench and waited for some minutes. he was late. i looked at the time on my phone impatiently and sighed. maybehewon'tshowup.
as i was starting to give up on seeing him, i finally spotted him. he walked over to me with a cheeky smile.
"i'm sorry, i'm late." he said and i nodded.
"it's okay." i answered. there was an awkward silence before i spoke again. "so, what did you want to talk to me about?"
i knew exactly what he wanted to tell me but i wanted to her him say it.
"i-i don't know how to say it." he said. "i mean, i've been waiting for so long for this moment to happen. i've dreamt about it. i never really thought it would have actually happen. maddie, i'm sorry. i know i messed it all up, i know i haven't been with you for more than 2 years but please forgive me. i'll do anything to get you back in my life. anything. please, madison. forgive me. i promise you mad, i'll take care of you, i'll never let you down and let alone you like i did. please, please, forgive me." he said, on the verge of tears.
i didn't know what i had to say. should i trust him? he left me for two entire long years... maybe i should tell him that i'll tell him later...i really didn't know what to answer. i wanted to say no but god, he was just looking at me with those beautiful eyes of his and i just couldn't say no to him. i hardly swallowed my saliva and took a deep breath.
"um, i mean, i scratched the back of my head, why-why not?" i answered. and at that moment, his whole face lighten up. he gently wrapped his arms around me. at first, i didn't really know what i had to do but i eventually hugged back awkwardly.
" i promise you, maddie, i wont let you down again. never." he smiled when we pulled away. "i wont. i'll do anything to keep you in my life. thank you for giving me this second chance." he added.
he looked so happy and that made me so happy so i grinned back to him. we stared at each other for more time before daniel broke that silence between us.
" you know, i still have you in my contacts... but i just don't what i should write as your name." he said and i shrugged my shoulders.
"maybe we should just start off with maddie and danny." i answered.
he unlocked his phone and typed in his contact's list: maddie💘, i typed in mine: danny💘 and i smiled remembering the old times.
