7. Past That Stage

I don't think I will ever grow up past the little girl that fell in love with horses. Being an equestrian has some intense ups and downs. When you finally get over that jump, or feel that bond with that huge animal beneath you. The feeling is like no other. That victory may be small to those watching, but to me, it's an achievement worth all the pain along the road. When you fall, or when the horse spooks. The adrenaline that goes through you is unbelievable. I usually end up feeling as if I will throw up. But I don't. Horses are unpredictable. They are terrifying. They can kill you in an instant. But they're worth it. They're that bright light in a dark world. And to me, when I was that little girl who laced up my first pair of riding boots and stepped in my first barn, these horses are the world. And I wouldn't trade that for anything.
