24. A Bond

A bond. A real, true, fascinating bond. Well, I'm not going to lie. It's hard to come by. Many people, me included, with for an unbreakable bond with their horse. One that's hard to find. We try. Keep trying. But you can't force it. Sometimes you just need to sit in the pasture and watch. Sometimes you need to go beyond your comfort zone, take off the saddle. If there's no leather between you and the horse, you can feel a connection hardly felt in a saddle. Sometimes you need to walk with them on the ground, jog while they trot, go over a jump with them. Never let them think they're on their own. A real bond can be formed. Without bribery. Without manipulation. Without pretending. You just need to have patience and let it form. Great bonds never form over night. Keep working with it. Let it grow, don't make it. And one day, you will realize there's a connection you've never felt before. And everything you've done, will be worth it.
