A sore ache in most parts of his body were what bought Hiccup out of his time of unconsciousness and he was now seeing light in the first of a long time. Blinking rapidly, it took quite some time for him to adjust to the light coming into the room he was in, even though they were only coming from cracks in the walls. Not knowing fully where he was, Hiccup attempted to sit up, which he succeeded in doing, but Toothless immediately heard his groans of pain and bounded over to him, getting right in his face.
"Whoa!" Hiccup exclaimed before realising that it was just Toothless, "hey there, Toothless," The said Night Fury stuck his tongue out with his eyes dilated, giving off a very puppy dog look of child-like happiness before he started moving around all over the place, knocking several things off of tables and selves. Soon realising that he was in his own house, Hiccup tried to get Toothless to calm down.
"Toothless!" After this fifth attempt to get the hyper dragon's attention, Hiccup relaxed and looked down at himself. Wearing a simple thin full-sleeved green tunic and some leggings, he was quite free to move his arms if he wanted to without them hurting too much; they were only sore and ached whenever he attempt to move them, so he let them be. He didn't want to cause any more trouble to them. But there was something else that he was questioning.
Why couldn't he couldn't feel his left leg. Tentatively pulling away the covers, Hiccups eyes widened at the sight.
A metal leg.
Out of all he had faced, who would've thought that his most distinctive battle scar would be an amputated leg.
Sitting there still, staring as his metal prosthetic leg, Hiccup began to recall the memories of what had happened last time he was awake. It seemed days away, but he could remember his battle with the Red Death. Flying up into the darkness of the sky. Shooting holes into its wings. Toothless' tail catching fire. Diving down towards the island. Sending a final blast into the Red Death's mouth just as soon as it was about to shoot. Them trying to escape the scene once they had defeated the Red Death. And finally, him getting hit by the end of its tail, his last sight being the blazing inferno he was falling into.
Sighing, Hiccup slowly and carefully moved his legs off the bed, his right foot making contact with the floor first before placing his metal leg down next to it. Toothless had been looking at Hiccup the whole time so when his new leg was still, he lowered his head to examine it closer. It came to his attention that this contraption that was attached to his rider's leg would help him to move around, almost like how his prosthetic tail fan helped him to fly. Guess Hiccup would now find out what it was like to lose a part of his body.
After a few moments, Hiccup thought about standing up. Using the bedpost as a support, he carefully used his arms to push himself up, not paying too much attention to the aches that came along with the action. Instinctively, he ended up putting all his weight on his right leg, but he gradually shifted his weight towards the prosthetic. All seemed fine for a few seconds when Hiccup began to a little unstable on his leg, so he limped forwards towards Toothless, the Night Fury leaning back to give Hiccup space. Taking a deep breath, Hiccup tried again, but the sudden exchange of weight sent a sudden spike of pain through his leg and it was enough to make him collapse. Thankfully, Toothless was there and Hiccup used him as a support to make his way over to the door, which wasn't too far away. The pain subsided, so he tried walking on his own again, this time making more success than before, and he opened the door to let in more daylight. However, along with the daylight, he also heard a loud roar coming from a Monstrous Nightmare which made him stumble back before regaining his balance and exiting the house. What he saw completely astonished and confused him.
Dragons were all over the village. Roaming the busy pathways, perched on top of various roofs and flying around the island. But no one was attacking them. Instead, the dragons that were roaming the village were accompanied by Vikings and some were even riding them. They were very unstable, but it looked like them and whatever dragon they were riding were getting along. This was a complete opposite to what Hiccup had last seen from Berk and he was convinced that he had stepped into an alternate dimension or that he was making this all up.
