It took a great amount of effort to open his eyes. Mainly because he was just so exhausted and drained, but Hiccup's vision eventually cleared and became more focused. He didn't move any other part of his body, but he could feel something circled around his wrists and ankles, presumably cuffs, and that he was laying on his side, facing a void of darkness. Well, from what he could see, it was a void of darkness. His vision could just be messed up, but after laying there, motionless for a few minutes, he could start to make out random shapes and outlines. Eventually, the barred, metal doors that blocked his escape came into view and a few moments after, he could see beyond the gaps in the bars, where another cell, right opposite his, was.
Sitting up proved to be much harder than Hiccup had originally thought. First focusing on moving his arms, he instantly recoiled at the loud clanking sound made by the heavy metal chains as they moved against the wood and each other and immediately held them still. Metal bashing together wasn't the first thing Hiccup would like to hear after just waking up from a coma. Nor did he need the entire ship to know he was awake. Trying again, moving his arms much slower, Hiccup placed his palms against the floor and proceeded to push himself up. Only now did he fully realise how stiff he arms were as they shook beneath the weight they were carrying. However, they soon buckled when a burst of agony ignited in his abdomen. Hiccup tried to supress his groans of pain, curling up and pressing his arms against the epicentre of his pain, which resulted in him falling onto his shoulder back to the floor and noise echoing through his cell.
Hiccup tried taking in deep breathes to steady himself, as well as keep the pressure constant on his abdomen, but he felt like at least five minutes had gone by before the flames of pain retreated and he could finally make an attempt to move his body again. Using the wall for support, Hiccup ignored the pain and eventually managed to get himself into relatively comfortable sitting position, leaning all his weight against the wall and then he tried to figure out what he was doing here. Then everything came back to him.
The Riders were trying to escape the chaos of the island. Snotlout and Hookfang were caught, and Hiccup and Toothless dived back down after them, but in the process, they too were caught and all four of them were forced to submit to Dragos men.
At least now Hiccup knew where he was. On Drago's ship. Most likely heading straight for his main base to face him in person. The worst situation for Hiccup to be in. One he never wanted to return to.
And just like that, things started happening. It started with his rapid beating heart. It was good that he was alive, but it was causing him to take in air at a faster rate. Too fast. He was trapped in the one situation he hated the most. The one situation he hoped never to return to. His scars, specifically those on his back and chest, started to tingle as his mind continued to venture down a torturous path filled with blades, bones and blood. The crack of a whip. Shrieks of dragons. Darkness. All of it vividly flashed before Hiccups eyes. He was desperate to stop the images. Squeezing his eyes shut and dropping his head. His hands balled into fists, his nails digging into his skin. All of what he was feeling and seeing was completely irrational. He was alone in a cell with no wounds inflicted on him so far, but that stopped nothing. His breathing was still ragged, and each breath grew harder to obtain. It was like his windpipe and lungs were closing, similar to when a burly hand of one of Dragos men, or even Drago himself clasped around his neck in a vice grip whenever he talked out of line.
If it wasn't for this, Hiccup would've surely heard the movement coming from the floors above his. However, it was only when the click of a door being unlocked sounded did Hiccup become even more frantic to calm himself down. He didn't want the guards, or anyone to see him like this. To get an idea that this would be the perfect time to try anything with him. He didn't think pretending to still be unconscious was a convincing façade to display. There was no way he could keep any part of his body or mind still and calm. So, he just sat there, fixating his eyes on the ground unwaveringly.
