*Flashback continued*
I couldn't. I yanked my sword from her grasp and pushed her aside. She screamed at me to stop. I blocked out her cries and moved towards the buzzing. The beast was far larger than my scrawny 12-year-old body. I had never seen a creature like this before.
The humongous bee planted its legs on the soil. The trees around me seemed to grow and my breath quicken. I had never done this before. I knew what I had to do but there's a difference between knowing what to do and doing it. The defence I did with Melissa was just practise.
The creature lunged towards me. I ducked, dropping the sword. The bee was inches away from my face. It retracted. It was scared. I had a feeling I should be scared of whatever was terrifying the beast. I slowly turn my head and caught sight of a rage induced Blue. The bee was right it should be scared.
Blue was terrifying when she is mad. She approached and grabbed me by the throat. She lifted me off my feet. I never knew how strong she was.
She tossed me away from the creature. She collected my sword from the ground and took her stance. She grinned before charging at the bee. The creature's legs clung with the sword. What was the bee's legs made out of? Metal?
The bee took flight. What happened next looked like something that would happen in an animation. Blue ran up the trunk of a nearby tree and bounced off it. The sword raised to attack.
The bee swooped towards me making Blue miss by a margin. She had my sword. I needed to be creative. I feel around for something. Rocks that were too small, leaves not very useful and a branch. That's the one. I swung it at the creature and knock it in the face.
When Blue reemerged from the forest her favourite jumper was torn. The jacket she has worn since the day I met her. It was partially the reason she was dubbed blue as in the right lighting it was shown to be blue. Her left sleeve was torn off revealing the continuation of the gauze wrap. Her face had a fresh cut one it.
"Roman watch out!" she ran towards me.
I my attention was drawn back to the bee that was about to swing at me. I felt myself being pushed to the side but not by the bee. Blue managed to knock me out of the way. She was thrown against a tree. Her body thumped on the ground. She used all the strength she had to get up and fight but found it to be an impossible task.
I was too focused on my friend the bee smacked me. I flew in the same direction hitting her in the process. Everthing went out.
When I awoke I was surrounded by darkness. My guess I wasn't out long it was only the beginning of nightfall when we got into the fight.
I rubbed my forehead trying to recall the events that lead to that moment. Blue. I scanned around the forest but couldn't see her, or anything for that matter.
I heard calling in the distance. It wasn't Blue, the voice was too loud to be her. I saw a light come into view than a face illuminated by the same light. Melissa, of course. After blue didn't make it home she must have got worried.
On sight of me she her face fell to shock. She dashed towards me. She stuck her light in the ground and kneeled at my level.
"You have a cut" she grabbed my face. "Doesn't seem to be bad though" she squeezed the wound, luckily no blood spilled out. Melissa stood up and waved her light around, "Where is my sister?"
I told her about how I got knocked unconscious and when I woke up she was gone. Melissa looked like she was about to kill someone. I was hoping it wasn't going to be me.
The unknown sent fear into both of us. I remembered searching the forest. The moment we found her body in the river. It was too late. She was left in there for too long.
Melissa pulled her sister out of the water and tried to resuscitate her. I stood there stunned. I did this. Blue was more than capable to take care of herself bt I had to interrupt.
Melissa was the one who found her. I never told her the whole truth. If I told her that I could have helped her sister she would have been crushed.
It wasn't strange for royalty to hide things from their subjects if it is in their best interest. Was it in her best interest or was that a lie I told myself so I didn't have to face what happened.
I had only seen Melissa a few times after that day. Her sister didn't have a funeral. Melissa never left her home. I wasn't allowed to enter that part of the kingdom. Though I was the prince there were some places even I couldn't go.
One night a few weeks after the incident, I snuck out of the kingdom to see her only to be stopped by the kingdom's guards. They sent me back to my home and kept watch on me for weeks. It took hours of convincing them for leave me alone. I was finally allowed out again on my thirteenth birthday.
My work with Thomas began to take over my life and soon after my thirteenth I was sent to the mindscape. I had been their before but now I was being forced to leave there.
This was when I first met Logic and Morality. I had seen them about on my few visits but now I had the chance to meet them.
Morality was excited to meet me but I can't say the same for Logic. This didn't worry me, I wasn't a fan of him at first but like a rash he grew on me. If you didn't interrupt him, he would get irritating.
I started to get over the event when we got a new arrival. This boy was a carbon copy of my friend. The only difference was he looked like the rest of us.
It was the best and worst day of my life.I got a chance to redo everything but be forced to recall everything. Let's just say we didn't get close.
I pushed the poor boy was ostracized from the rest of the group. The only one of the main traits who took any notice of him was Morality. When the trait kicked into high gear, we butted heads. It was that way for a long time.
Once again I stuffed up bad.
