(Logan Pov)

The darkness was now light but why? Virgil appeared in the fountain and only once portal opened from there. I had made the way all the way to the underwater cave. A light was illuminated in the centre as per usual but today there was other one by the door.

I approached the light. The closer I got, the more uneasy I felt. Something smelt off. The metallic fumes were comparable to blood. My foot stepped on something squished under my foot. I looked down and also gagged.

The lifeless body of my friend laid on the ground. Her blood mixing with the water turning it crimson red. The wound came from her throat. I was not specialised in this. I pulled off my tie and allied pressure to her throat. Wait, what if this stops her from breathing? I let go of the tie. I pull out my phone and try and search. Of course there is no signal in an magic underwater face.

Something touches my shoulder, I go to swing my axe at the person and stop mid-seconds before sticking the person. It was Melissa but not her. She was dressed the exact same as the version of her on the floor. The standing version lack the injuries displayed on her dead half.

"Give up, I'm almost gone" Melissa said her body flickered as she spoke.

"No your still alive, you're not completely dead yet. See your flickering." I said.

"This is where I belong,"

"I can bring you back, I have done it before." I said.

"I can finally be with my Kaida"

"But Kaida isn-"

"Please let me be"

I knew I should have told her but it's none of my business. I lowered my head. I know the correct thing to do and the only logical thing to due but I couldn't. The swishing of water notified me that she was leaving. I didn't know here she was going. There was nowhere to go. Her spirit would reside in this cave for the rest of Thomas' days. None of us will exist.

I stared at her lifeless body. How could this happen to her? The closer I analyzes her body the more injuries I picked up on. She had teeth marks all over her arms and claw marks scattered all over her body. The wounds were large enough to be from a large canine.

I arose and gather my belongs. I knew who exactly did this.

I left the underwater cave and made my journey to Hell. My denteched clothing brought me a lot of discomfort but not as much as my thoughts. For the logical side I don't like to think a lot. Everything needs to factual, the truth is what's important to me, hypothetical scenarios and inferences are "the worst".

I wondered what high jinx would ensue when I was absent from the others. Would I share the same fate as Melissa? That's impossible, traits can't die, then again she was one, unofficially. To is she was one but to the mindscape she was just an invader. She only had one purpose and she completed it without realising. I should have told her. There's still time, I hope there's is still time.

The forest was darker than I recalled. The mood of the forest could make even the happy of us question it all. I felt a presence beside me as I trudged through the dirt. My arm ached from lugging around my belongings. A little further to go, I'd tell myself. Another falsehood. Times have changed or they have stayed the same. It's all bury at this point.

I stood beside to people, no resemblance between the three of us but we apparently shared a blood connection relationship. Family. The youngest of all three and the only male. The oldest Alyssa, snotty and uptite and was always my parents favourite. My second sister was virtually forgettable. A dazed and confused girl who removed herself from family functions whenever possible. Vanished when I was thirteen. My parents refused to explain her strange disappearance. They ignored her entire existence. They removed anything that could be traced back to her. My parents were observed. I guess Virgil was right, my mother is preposterous.

I knew from a young age that I was destined for greatness. I was pushed further than any child should be. My life was a competition. I needed the best grades, best sence of the world and how humans function. I only found out what I was after I was 15. My life was never mine. What person wants to know that? My parents shipped me off to some prodigious school that I never tried out for.

I was chosen out of ten children to be the logical side for a boy named Thomas. I was confused to a whole new extent. Soon I was doing the same thing that others did for me. I hand picked out of millions of kids individuals that fitted the rules we needed. I was supplied with a yellow envelope with the job description and I was forced into picking the best suited person to join us.

Patton was the first to join me, followed by many other useless traits. All picked fulfilled the rolls they were picked for with a unbelievable level of excellence.

One day like the others I found a yellow folder waiting for me. I sighed an opened it.

Anxiety

Job description: Heightened sense of fear. Analyzer of dangerous situations and enforces ways to keep the host safe.

Suitable people:

Nicholas Fewks

Alexander Harris

Charles Martins

Petter Pettergree

Michael Thornton

The list continued for a while. I went through the list and each was worse than the other. The only mildly decent one was Charles. I packed my things for a day trip to retrieve the boy. He lived in Sonerezh, the same kingdom as Roman. When I made it to his place the door was left slightly ajar, I nudged it slightly open and called out making sure my presence was known.

My eyes couldn't comprehend what my eyes saw. I rushed out of the and called emergency services. They took the suspended body out of the room. The boy was long dead. Did I do too good of a job? The job doesn't sound like a good one to have. Who wants to be known as Anxiety? If serve enough it can be a mental disorder. I'm back at square one.

Children laughing came from outside. How could they laugh on this sad day? I recognized one of the children as Prince Roman, son of the king and the trait in training. I reflected on my own life. I bet the kid had no idea of what his life was going to become. That's the one thing they have in common, their parents lie. The hope of the future they are promised and the realisation that they don't ever get what they want once they work out the truth.

The boy was with girls, a black haired tomboy and a ginger girl wearing an inverted version of the princes attire. Oh how I wish I was young again. I would love to redo it all, change the past allowing myself to have some more fun.

The tomboy was lagging behind. She kicked a rock across the ground hitting the prince. The ginger fell over laughing as the boy hopped holding his hurt leg. The tomboy's expression remained the same, flat expression.

He payed this no mind. He went on with his research.
