Harry and Ron said they had some things to do while we were here so they ran off and Hermione dragged me, literally dragged me by the arm, down to the park.

We walked through the beautiful trees, the colourful leaves crunching beneath our feet. She swung her hands between us, smiling the whole time.

I couldn't help but smile back; her smile was infectious. I couldn't help but admire the beauty and innocence within her - she had no idea what was to come, what my family was involved in. She had no idea about the evil that lingered in the shadows of our world and the dangers that hid beneath the surface. I was amazed.

We stopped by a small lake and she asked: "River, have you ever skimmed a rock before?" She asked, stopping and turning to me.

"I can't say that I have." I shook my head.

"Great! I can teach you." Hermione smiled. She kissed my cheek he picked up two rocks, placing one in my hands.

She skimmed her rock on the water perfectly and smiled at her success before helping me to do mine.

"Now try by yourself." She said with a soft smile.

"Okay." I picked up a rock and threw it the way she had showed me. Instead of skimming across the water, it sunk and I couldn't help but feel disheartened.

"It's okay, try again. It takes practice." Hermione said and she handed me another rock. I tried again and got the same result.

After about ten tries, I was ready to give up but she continued to encourage me until finally, success!

A wide smile crossed my face and I hugged her tightly. "Thank you for not letting me give up." I kissed her.

"You're welcome." She smiled.

I found myself getting lost in her eyes.
