Chapter 4 ~ Chance Meeting

Tommy's POV

I fiddled with the house key, dropping it once or twice, before my drunk ass walked inside. The television was on and the oven was preheating.

Kade looked over her shoulder before her mouth twitched upward in a scowl. "Oh hey, Tommy. Have a nice couple of pints?" She asked with a quiet scoff at the end.

"N-no, a-and who-o are you to tell m-me?" My knees buckled beneath me and I grabbed into the countertop for support.

"Right, let's get you bed shall we?" Kade got up from her chair and got a hold of my elbow. She started guiding me down the hall before I pushed her up against the wall.

"You smell nice." I said, rubbing my nose into the crook of her neck, inhaling her perfume.

She pressed her hands against my chest. I backed away slightly, but my hands were on either side of her face, trapping her. "You're drunk as hell." She said, slipping under my arms. "You can't keep showing up here like this. You're a pathetic excuse of a father!"

My eyes turned dark. Drunkness and the high emotions of werewolves don't exactly mix like sugar and spice. It's not nice. "You're a crappy excuse of a daughter! Heck, you're not even my kid! In fact, you killed my kids. If it weren't for you, I'd be happy, living with my wife!" I yelled.

Then I brought my hand back, about to strike. Kade put her hands up in defense, such a coward. I brought my hand down and just when my fingertips grazed her cheek, a hand caught me.

"I think you should go, now." Louis said sternly. I turned to face him and yanked my hand from his grip.

I scoffed, bumping his shoulder on my way out. I shifted and started running towards my pack. At least they'll welcome me with open arms.

Kade's POV

"You okay?" Louis asked, rubbing my back. I pulled away, cringing a bit. I hated when people, when guys especially, touched me.

"Yeah, yeah. He needs help, Louis. Get him some." I sighed. "I'll be up in my room if you need me, but don't need me."

Once I was in my room, I wrote down the cringe worthy events that had just happened. It wasn't the first time. The last two times Tommy came in drunk, he played with the hem of my shirt and complimented me on things. He passed out right after, so I didn't really care.

But it's the first times he's been abusive. To think, if Louis wasn't here, would Tommy have taken it further?

My thoughts then drifted to the loud gunshot I heard last night. I pulled a black hoodie on and grabbed my bag.

Crap. I glared at the big white rectangle on the side of my window. If I open it or step out of it, it'll go ballistic, and worse, Louis will go ballistic.

I do have one other idea of how to get outside, but it's probably the worlds stupidest idea. I ran down out of my room and into the second story family room where we had a fire place, bookshelf, and large table where we used to have stupid family meetings.

I adjusted my bag so it was dangling from my neck. I got on all fours and crawled through the tiny opening of the fireplace. Once inside, I rubbed my hands together and gripped the uneven bricks that were on the walls.

Yeah, definitely stupid. I began crawling upwards. "Don't look down, don't look down." I murmured, keeping my eyes on the clear blue sky above that I could see from the opening.

I popped my head out from the top. The wind whipped the side of my face, stinging my cheeks. I carefully maneuvered my body out of the hole and jumped down onto the roof. Then I ran in wolf form towards the woods.

The trees were dancing furiously in the hard and forceful breeze. The fur around my face blew into my black eyes. I was crouched down, almost in a lunge position, scanning the area for a hunter or wolf.

When I realized I was basically in no use for hunting, I shifted back into my human form then started unloading my supplies.

My ears perked up when I heard a branch snap. I turned around with a loaded crossbow. I exhaled in relief when I saw a bunny.

Oh how I was wrong . . .

Out from the bush where the bunny hopped into, a big grey wolf lunged forward, at me. The sudden movement caused me to drop my weapon, leaving me a total open target. The wolf tackled me to the ground and my head was the first to come in contact with the hard dirt floor.

This wolf had foam frothing from it's mouth and snapped at me, sending foam all over my face. It was obviously rabies infested. One bite would probably wouldn't kill me, but it could be enough to send me into shock.

"Get off me, you mutt!" I growled through gritted teeth. It snarled and started stepping on my sides. It's claws tore through the thin fabric of my sweater and into my skin, drawing blood.

A gun was fired and for a moment, I didn't realize I wasn't struggling. The wolf was dead, lying beside my face. I gaped at the events that just happened. I finally looked away from the dead body when someone cleared their throat.

"You alright, miss?" A fairly handsome boy, around my age, stepped out from the shadows with a smoking gun. I quickly collected myself and brushed the imaginary dirt from my clothes.

"Uh, yeah?" I said it more as a question.

The boy nodded, staring at anything but my face. Except that was all but what I did. I couldn't seem to take my eyes off of his face. Short, shaggy blonde hair that was styled up in hair gel. Light hazel eyes with more green than brown. And an army of freckles danced across the bridge of his nose.

He then looked up, his eyes widening slightly as he shook his head. "Sorry, I'm George." He laughed, sticking out his hand.

"Kade." I smiled a little, taking his hand. "Thanks for . . . that." I pointed to the dead wolf.

"No problem. So what's a pretty girl like you doing out in these woods in the middle of the afternoon?" He asked, shoving his hands in his jean pockets.

"On a nature walk." I lied.

"Really? Because to me it looked like you were ready to hunt yourself some good old rogues." He smirked, making the freckles on his face turn upwards towards his hazel eyes.

I sighed, I was a little relieved I wouldn't have to a) keep a secret and b) tell him in the long run. "You know."

"Am one. Not a rogue though, werewolf." He began playing with the spike in his hair.

"You a hunter too?"

"Since a kid I've been out in these woods. You wouldn't believe how many rogues stumble through here." He smiled. He looked behind me, examining my weapons. "For a pretty girl, you sure do have some badass weapons."

I smirked. "Well, I may be pretty but I'm not prissy."

"I'd like to take a bet on that. Why don't you say you and I go for a little hunt. Call it a date?" He asked, casually.

I winced. "You know, I do always love to prove myself to guys, but I'll have to pass. I have a job to carry on." I gave him a small wink, pretending to be flirty.

"Well if you ever find yourself in danger, give me a whistle." He smiled.

I laughed. "Will do."
