A Sinner's Secret
Chapter 7 ~ I'm Back And Staying
Marcel's POV
Well shit.
Of course Theo, everyone's favorite gets transported straight to Kade's house and I'm left to wander on the opposite side of London. I've been here quite a fair share of times over the past years I had spent down here. I recognized the corner coffee shop and bakery, which meant I was almost halfway out of here.
People on the streets gave me odd looks, probably wondering why I was dressed for winter at the start of summer, that and my outfit wasn't the least bit colorful. I passed the coffee shop and soon the local animal shelter came into view.
Free Adoption Today!
Should I get Kade a helpless little animal as a 'Surprise I'm not dead!' gift? My legs already made the decision and walked me through the doors. The place was crowded with families with small children who were bombarded with small kittens and puppies.
"But I want this one, Mommy! I want to name it Leeyum!" A small child held a turtle the size of his palm in his hand. His mother shook her head and pointed to the various aquatic animals in tanks. "Turtles are funner than fishies!"
A father signed for two chocolate lab puppies and handed each to one of his twins. Most people were crowded around the puppies, deciding on which to get. Barely anyone was paying attention to the adult dogs who happily waited for someone to adopt them.
I walked over to the large play area. These dogs looked like they would need a lot of running space which was good in Kade's sake. Great Dane? Those things tower feet over me. Husky? Aren't they loud? German Shepard?
My mind was so in thought that I didn't realize the employee waving his hand in front of me. "Sir? Do you need some help?"
"Yeah, that'd be great." He was about my height, blonde hair, brown eyes. He looked the slightest bit like Liam.
He started going on about how each one needs proper care and the advantages and disadvantages. So far, the husky seemed the easiest. "I'll take the husky."
"Do you hear that Veronica? Looks like it's your lucky day." He opened the gate and Veronica walked out to nuzzle my leg. "Don't worry, she's very affectionate." He said, smiling. I got the slightest feeling he was eyeing me, but oh well. Must be a human thing.
I followed him to the counter where I signed for Veronica and got her a leash. He handed me her certificate and a small slip of paper, winking. I unfolded the slip of paper.
Call me sometime xx ~ Leeroy
I gulped. I gave him an awkward smile and he gave me another wink. I hurried out the doors and shuddered. "Do I look gay to you, Veronica?"
She howled in response. "I bet it's the hair..."
~
By the time we arrived, Veronica and I were both out of breath. She decided to drag me downhill for the past three miles. "Well I hope Kade can keep up with you." I adjusted the paper sign hanging from around her neck.
It read: Will you be my girlfriend? in my best cursive writing. Then below it said Or Nah? I heard a guy asking a girl this earlier on the way here.
I hesitated to knock when I finally reached her front door. The nerves finally kicked in, making me shake. I'm actually here, actually about to reunite with Kade. Though my disappearance had been short, it felt like a millennia without her.
I brought my knuckles to the wood of the door and prepared myself for such beauty as Kade to answer.
Kade's POV
I snored away until a loud knocking sound came from downstairs. "Intruder!" I heard Theo yell along with fumbling and the sound of metal clanking against the wall.
Dammit.
"Theo it's okay, go back to sleep!" I mumbled, making my way to the bedroom door. Theo had my old metal baseball bat in hand, ready to chuck it and the front door from the upstairs balcony. I lowered the bat for him, afraid he'd actually throw it if whoever was downstairs knocked again.
I ran down the steps in my messed up clothes and tangled hair. My messy bun had come half undone and I probably had eyeliner smudged down my cheeks. I opened the door, not afraid to show the world my hideousness.
"Yeah?" I asked, rubbing my eyes and yawning. I leant against the door and stared at the figure in front of me.
"Surprise." His dimples stuck out prominently with a flashing smile. His soft curls were slacked back with gel and a big set of glasses sat loosely on the tip of his nose. And he was dressed in a white polo shirt and sweater vest.
"M-Marcel?!" I failed to speak clearly, the shock overwhelming me. I couldn't help but leap at him. He engulfed me in his not so muscular arms and I cried into his chest.
"Shhh. It's okay, baby. I'm back and I won't ever abandon you again." He whispered, kissing me just below the ear. I pulled my head back and planted a soft kiss on his lips.
"I've always wanted to do that." I said, wiping my cheeks.
"Me too." He laughed. "Adding to the surprise..." He stepped aside to reveal a full grown husky wagging it's tail. "This is Veronica, she's all your's."
I bent down and pat her head and fur, earning a big lick on the face. I brushed my hand over a paper sign around her neck. "Really Marcel? That's your pick up line? Or nah?" I laughed.
He blushed a little and put his hands up in defense. "I don't understand you people of earth."
"Well because it's you, yes I will definitely be your girlfriend." I said, smiling.
He grew the biggest smile possible and engulfed me in another hug, Veronica trying to break us up by pushing her way through our legs.
"Kade get away, that is a dangerous animal!" Theo stepped through the threshold with the bat again.
"No! Theo it's just a dog!" I put my hands out so he wouldn't swing.
"Oh. Hi doggy!" He cooed. Why did I get stuck with him. "Oh Marcel, you're here. They let you out?"
I looked between Theo and Marcel. "No, I escaped." He said, a small smirk on his face.
I faked a gasp. "Marcel Styles, a rebel?"
"Ha ha." He said with sarcasm. "Just get inside, it's hot as hell out here."
