A Sinner's Secret
Chapter 13 ~ Independent
Kade's POV
My black eyes stared into the dark eyes of my reflection in the murky river water. I expected myself to feel enraged and angered, except I felt depressed and sad. Hearing those beautiful things he had said to Eleanor made me question what my mom was to him, what I was.
I know without a doubt that he thinks I'm a screw up, rejected by everyone except my closest friends. Going to school Monday is going to be a living nightmare. I've lost every friend. Marcel won't be taking the job as assistant again, he found a job at the library and Edward found one at the music store.
"Thought I'd find you out here." An unfamiliar cockiness laced his voice.
"I just want to be alone, Marcel." It was strange for me, feeling vulnerable all of a sudden.
The newly reddened leaves crunched under his shoes. I felt his rough hand pet the fur along my back before draping his arm around my body, despite my abnormal size.
"The party-"
"I'm not going back." I said, fed up with all this party talk. Louis didn't even show me off as part of the family. "I need to leave, Marc. Get away and get my own place, take online classes, find a job. Live."
I've been thinking of running away ever since Louis announced that Eleanor was pregnant and that they were getting married. Eleanor acts like she cares, tries to be a mother, but I won't have it. I've gone without a mom for months, I don't need a fake one.
A deep sigh came from Marcel's mouth, suddenly becoming more high pitched than raspy. "You're sixteen, Kade. You shouldn't be living on your own. You need to finish school, go to college, then see what you want to do with your life."
I scoffed. "My life ended the moment this all happened." I said, gesturing to everything that's happened.
"I just want what's best for you."
That's what everybody says.

I huffed and groaned at the same time, flopping back onto my mattress. "Welcome to your new home." I muttered.
There's at least ten abandoned houses just around my block, so finding my own place wasn't so hard. Louis bought a ton of paint when my mom first moved in and never touched it. I stole the cans before lugging everything here.
I only wish I could see his face when he walks into my room only to discover it stripped and bare. I had just finished lugging the last box in here and I was exhausted, but I need to set this up.
I probably picked the most unstable house on the block, but it was the biggest. The door was broken off it's hinges and currently lay on the floor of the living room. The windows were boarded up and there's most likely rats living in the walls. The walls were painted the ugliest shade of brown ever invented, or that could just be stains and water damage.
The tarps had been laid out in every room and a can of paint was ready to be used. I started with my bedroom first, seeing that I need that room the most. Louis didn't exactly have any vibrant colors, but he did have chalkboard paint, which was perfect for me. I dipped the small paint brush in the can, starting with the corners before moving to the larger parts.
About five hours later, the walls and even the ceiling was a chalkboard room, and the other rooms were painted the color I desired. "And you didn't think I would find out."
My heart skipped a beat, nearly jumping out of my chest when I heard Marcel's voice. He scrunched his eyebrows together when the orange paint from my paint brush smacked him across the face. "How did you know?"
He removed his glasses, wiping the paint off with his shirt. "A girl throwing her disassembled bed through her window, isn't exactly discrete." He laughed, humorlessly.
I set the paint down, staring at him intently. "I'm not going back." I was straight forward, knowing exactly what he was going to lecture me about. He would try and convince me to go back, make up with my "family", and go to school. But, I'm ready to live on my own.
"And I'm not here to stop you."
"I knew you would-", I bit my tongue and stopped myself. "Excuse me?"
"I won't roadblock you, Kade. I did a lot of thinking lady night. I realized that you can take care of yourself and I was just scared." He said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Scared? Scared of what?"
"That you'd leave me. It seems like everyone has a life but me. Edward has a family to take care of and if you got your own place, I'd be alone. You'd grow too busy for me." He admitted.
I sighed, walking over to Marcel and wrapping my arms around his neck. "You're my boyfriend, Marc. How could I ever leave you?" He looked at my face, his eyes flickering between my lips and my eyes. "There's plenty of bedrooms in this house if you, you know, want to perhaps live with me?"
He slowly leaned in until the space between us was nonexistent, folding his lips into mine. "Really? You and I, living together?" A smile formed on his lips as I nodded. "Alright, let's do it."
"Really?" My eyes widened in surprise. I hadn't expected Marcel Styles to accept so quickly. He seemed like the type of guy to wait until marriage on everything. "Oh my gosh, Marcel!" I squeezed him tighter in our embrace.
"I love you, you know that, right?" He asked, a slight frown on his lips.
"Of course I do. Because I love you everyday, and will for the rest of my life."

Bleh, crap chapter, I'm sorry.
But dayum, Marcel and Kade living with each other? I don't think the other boys would approve, especially Theo.
How do you think Louis is going to react when he finds out, once again, Kade has snuck out? And do you think Kade would ever leave Marcel?
Comment your thoughts!
Oh! And thank you so much for getting this book to one thousand reads! You guys deserved this chapter even though I kind of screwed it up. The next chapter will hopefully be better.
