Christine's P.O.V.

The day following our return from the circus was tense. Dean was still angry from his argument with Leah, stomping around, grumbling, and slamming doors. I do my best to ignore him. He'll get over it soon enough.

I have a surprise for Sam when he gets back from the grocery store. I feigned illness so I'd have time to set it up while he's gone. It's nothing too special looking, but I think he'll like it.

Since seeing Sam with Gracie at the circus it really made me realize how much I love him. I've always loved him of course, but that day really showed me the depth of that love. So I've decided to ask him to marry me.

It's nothing that we've ever had long discussions about. We've always been satisfied just dating, plus we've never had time to get married. Saving the world has taken up most of our time for five years now. But it feels like time. For some strange reason I want to be able to call Sam Winchester my husband.

I don't think Sam wants a diamond ring, so I got him a really good pair of running shoes he's been wanting. Not a traditional engagement gift, but it's something he'll use. I put the box on the kitchen table where he'd see it when he comes in. On the inside of the box under the shoes I wrote WILL YOU MARRY ME? In silver marker so he'd definitely see it.

After telling Dean to stay away from the box I left the kitchen and found a spot I could watch without being seen. Sam should be coming back any minute now.

I heard the bunker door open and started to get excited. A few moments later I saw Sam enter the kitchen with a few bags. I held my breath so as not to give my presence away. After putting the bags down he inspected the box before opening it up.

He smiled widely when he seen the shoes. When he picked them up to look at them more closely he noticed the writing on the bottom. His smile fell and he sighed.

I felt my stomach clench as I stepped out of my hiding place. "I'll take that as a no."

Sam jumped. "Chris! I didn't see you there." He ran a hand over his long hair and took a few deep breaths, his hand over his heart.

"I'll just get on out of here." I told him before turning around.

"No, Chris, hang on a second."

I kept walking. His reaction told me everything I needed to know.

I ended up in the garage. No one should be coming in here for a while. I got in one of the old cars and stretched out in the backseat. I stared at the faded fabric on the ceiling wondering why Sam would have reacted that way. Before I could think up an answer the back door closest to my feet opened. Dean stood on the outside.

"Found her!" He announced.

"Why couldn't you leave me alone?" I hissed at Dean.

Dean smiled in response. I guess he wants everyone else to be as unhappy as he is.

I heard footsteps and Sam appeared beside him.

"You wanna get out of the car and let me explain?" Sam asked.

"No thanks. I think I got the gist of it." I answered.

"I can drag her out." Dean offered. "She already doesn't like me."

"No." Sam and I said in unison.

Dean nodded. "Well, I'm not wanted here either. Good luck Sammy." I heard Dean's footsteps fading away back to the bunker.

"Please get out of the car, Christine."

"Why?"

"Because it's important." Sam answered.

"So was my proposal."

"I know, I'm sorry. If you just get out I'll explain everything." Sam reasoned.

I shook my head no. "Just leave me alone Sam. That's all I want right now."

A look of determination settled on the younger Winchester's face. "Fine. Be stubborn then."

I thought Sam was about to leave. But instead he pulled something out of his pocket and got down on one knee.

"I was going to take you to a really nice restaurant tonight, but this will have to do." Sam opened his hand to reveal a black velvet ring box.

My heart stopped in my chest.

"Christine DeShawn Kobeck." Sam paused to open the ring box. Revealing a breathtaking diamond ring. "Will you marry me?" He finished.

My eyes widened as my hand went to my mouth. In my excitement I hit my head on the roof of the car, but in the moment it didn't matter. I crawled across the backseat to Sam, wrapping my arms around him tightly.

"Of course I will." I answered before kissing him deeply.

After I got out of the car we went back inside the bunker.

"I'm sorry that I ruined the surprise." I told Sam.

"It's okay. I'm flattered that you wanted to ask me. Thanks for the shoes, by the way."

I smiled. "You're very welcome."

"My two favorite lovebirds!" Dean greeted us before handing us each a beer. "Congrats on the engagement." He clapped Sam on the shoulder.

"Thanks." Sam and I told him.

Dean looked at the ring on my hand. "That's a real nice rock." He held up his beer as we did the same. "A toast to my baby brother, and his beautiful bride to be."

We all clinked our bottles together before taking a drink. Sam put an arm around my waist as Dean wandered off to some other part of the bunker.

"I love you." Sam told me.

"I love you too." I stood on my tiptoes as he leaned down and gave him a kiss.

I grinned looking at the sparkling ring on my hand.
