RICHIE'S POV

"Hey, Eds. Ready for story time? We're starting another book now"

"Ooh, sounds good! I'm ready"

I smiled and opened the notebook, turning to the first page and taking a deep breath.

"It may sound a little familiar, Eddie, but I hope you enjoy it. It's my favourite book of all" I explained.

He smiled and nodded.

"In the year 1989, there lived two best friends that cared more for each other than anyone in the whole world, maybe even more than their best friends Bill, Stan, Mike, Ben, and Beverly"

"Their names were Edward and Richard, but their friends called them Richie and Eddie. You may hear this often, but their story really was like no other. It started that summer of 1989, when their best friend Bill's brother, Georgie, was killed by a monster"

"Poor Georgie" Eddie said mournfully.

"I know, Eds" I said comfortingly, and continued.

"The two boys and their friends fought hard that summer, against the monster, against growing up, and they fought hard to chase each other. You see, the boys were hopelessly in love with each other. Everyone knew it, but Eddie was too oblivious to realize that Richie felt the same and Richie was too afraid to admit his feelings"

"Their friends should've just pushed them together" Eddie said frowning.

"Well, Eds, their friends didn't want to intervene. They wanted them to figure things out for themselves" I chuckled.

"That's dumb. If they love each other, they should just go for it"

"Maybe you're right, Eddie" I admitted. "But they got together eventually. It began in high school-"

"Oooh"

"-after the Losers, as they called themselves, defeated the monster, they tried hard to forget it and tried to have normal lives as they were growing up. The Losers would often hangout with each other. But there was this one party that Bill had that changed Richie and Eddie's lives forever"

"Everyone had gone to bed, but Richie stayed behind, too lost in thought to go to sleep. He found it hard to sleep those days anyway. Eddie noticed this and stayed behind with him"

"Eddie stood up from the couch where he and Richie sat"

"'Do you want me to leave, Richie? Or want me to stay?' he asked"

"'You can do whatever you want, Eds. I don't mind' Richie responded nonchalantly"

"'Oh...okay...' Eddie said mournfully, and started off to bed, but stopped when he heard Richie sigh"
