le passé et le présent

It wasn't always like this.

Lying on the couch doing whatever I want to do. Reading all day long and when he's back, we go out for dinner wherever we want. Fastfood or healthy food, whatever we fancy. Or catch a midnight movie and be home when the nights crawl into mornings.
Go shopping on weekends and waste money buying dresses I would probably wear just maybe once. And flowers, glorious flowers smelling sweetly anytime I want.

No it wasn't always like this.

Once, I was slaving hours in the kitchen cooking a decent meal for the family every single day. Trying to make the house clean when the boys turned it into a war zone. Shopping malls were just a place we fast walked in, and the only way I spend money was by buying clothes and toys for the boys. And let's not talk about how laundry dictated life, I did not own a washing ma chine back then. It was back breaking, but it had to be done.

So don't envy whatever luxuries I have today. It did not come without a sacrifice. And how huge a sacrifice I made is entirely my own business and no one else's.

Just know that I earn this. I know I deserve more, but I am not complaining. Because I believe in what life can offer me.

Le futur. It will come.
