LEXEE GOMEZ was there for it all, from his struggles to his fame. NICK MARA was there for it all, being her rock and shoulder to cry on and cuddle buddy. Then, one day, they weren't there for each other at all.

"Babe, please don't do that to yourself." Aimee pleads, tilting her head to the side as to add more emphasis to what she's saying.
"Do what?" I question, feigning ignorance as a way to avoid talking about it.
She gives me a pointed look. Of course, my best friend wouldn't let this go. "Stop pining over him and caring about what he's doing."
"Why would he go like it then unlike it?" I ask, burying my head in my bed sheets.
"I don't know, babe," she says, leaning against the wall against my bed. "Boys are boys," she sighs. "You need to pick yourself up. You've let him take over your whole life. Lex, you're my best friend and I truly do love you with all my heart and believe me, I'm saying this for you," she leans down to me, and I lift my head up, "This is just sad. Wake up!" She shakes me.
"I just don't know how to do this without him," I whisper leaning against my hand.
She pats my head. "You've been without him before."
"I don't remember how, Aim," I reply.

"This is stupid," I mumble to myself.
"What's stupid?"
I turn my head to the side to see who's talking to me. "Oh, screw off, Nick," I groan, waving him off.
He pauses for a second. "Woah, Lex, what's up with you?"
"What do you mean? What's up? What's up about my boyfriend cheating on me for the second time? About how every guy I date turns around to screw me over and none of them actually liked me enough," I rant to him, and I don't even know that I'm doing it until I stop. I breathe deeply. "Sorry."
"Everybody has bad days," he says. "Besides, Brad isn't worth it. I mean, c'mon, that guy is such a tool. He stares at his own biceps for the majority of the day."
I laugh half-heartedly. "And do you think you're any better?"
"Oh, yeah," he nods. "If I were to take you on a date, I'd open doors for you— car doors, restaurant doors, and everything."
"I figure you'd take me to McDonald's or something, yeah?" I smile at him, crossing my arms.
"Yeah, of course. I'd get chicken nuggets, and," he pauses and looks up at the ceiling,"you'd get a hamburger, but then you'll find some way to steal my food."
"Then, you'd drive me home. We'd listen to your crappy playlist on the way back. I'd turn on the radio instead, and 'Call Me Maybe' will come on. You'll sing it at the top of your lungs."
"So, you'll make a joke about how I sound like a donkey? I'll walk you to the door, and being the gentleman I am, I'll invite myself into your house and bedroom."
"True gentleman style," I chuckle. "Then, we'll talk about the dinosaurs or something?"
"The dinosaurs?" He looks at me in mock offense. "Okay, that's where I draw the line." He draws an imaginary line with his fingers.
"You draw the line there, but not at 'Call Me Maybe?'" I look at him incredulously.
Nick shrugs.
"Thanks, Nick," I mumble. "Thanks for making me feel better."
"What are friends for?"
"I don't mean to be mean, but we're merely just acquaintances. We only have like 2 classes together, and we don't necessarily hang out after class."
"Well, always room to make new friends."

"He always knew how to make me laugh, Aims."
"Oh hell, you're pathetic," she sighs. She scoots down to sit right next to me. "Lex, one day you're going to get over it. I don't know when or how, but you are. You're strong, and I know that's some cliché BS, but it's true." Her voice softens, "I know he made you feel like you were the only girl on the world. I know that you love him with your whole heart. There's a secret to this world though, Lex. You can fall in love more than once in life."
"There's that supportive best friend I desperately need," I joke, earning a playful smack in the arm for that. "Hey! You're always in that 'I-don't-care' mood. Thanks for caring, though," I say sincerely.
"Who do we have in this world, if we don't have each other. Right, Lex?"
"It's us against the world, yeah, Aims?"
"Us against the world, babe," she nodded.
She held out her pinky, and I interlock my pinky with hers.
