CHAPTER 4

When we got to the venue, Dave introduced me to Erin, one of the sound techs, whom I would be sitting with.

“You will have an awesome view and Erin is the coolest. She will take you backstage after the show. Just stick with her, you'll be fine.” He kissed my cheek quickly, causing Erin to raise an eyebrow, then he disappeared.

“So, how long have you known Dave?” Erin asked, not looking at me as she

fiddled with the controls.

“Um, not too long,” I said, fidgeting in my seat.

“Really?” Erin asked, finally turning towards me. “How long?”

“We met last night...” I said, feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Erin could sense this.

“I'm sorry!” She said, looking embarrassed. “It’s just, I've done three tours with the band and Dave has never given any of us a 'new' girl to look after. They have always been old friends or family. He's not really like that. You must be special.” I tilted my head and squinted at her.

“Seriously?”

“Seriously.”

“Huh..,” I said, shrugging.

The concert was amazing, just like I knew it would be. After the show, Erin led me back stage to Dave's dressing room and instructed me to wait there for him. She explained that he had a few extra post-concert commitments, interviews, photo-ops and such, but he'd look for me here. The dressing room was a pretty good size and had a full bath attached to a small seating area. After a little while, Dave came bursting through the door, full of energy, but soaked in sweat.

“Did you have fun? Was Erin nice?”

“Yes and yes!” I said. “It was incredible, thank you so much for bringing me!” He leaned in and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.

“Let me shower and change, I am fucking nasty!” He grabbed a small back pack and closed himself into the little bathroom.

“We are going to be partying over at Carly's again tonight,” he called over the running water. “You're coming, too.”

“Of course! I no longer have a hotel room to go back to, remember!” I called back.

“Looks like you will have to stay with me again tonight.”

“Darn it!”

I paced the room as Dave finished showering and dressing. He emerged from a cloud of steam. He tossed his sweaty close in the bag and reached for me.

“Now I can get some lovin'“ he said, pulling me in for a kiss. “Let's blow this joint.”

We entered the hotel in a large group, the same way we had exited. Taylor on one side of me,

Dave on the other, to help me avoid being seen by my co-workers that I had abandoned. There were still a few of them, drunkenly milling about the lobby and the bar. The would stay the night and re-group for part two of the conference tomorrow morning. I had my hood up, Dave’s aviators on and my head ducked down. We were all ushered into the elevator, where I hung in the back until we were safely on the ES floor, where I knew my co-workers wouldn’t be.

We exited the elevator and made our way back to Carly’s room again. I could hear the music pumping from halfway down the hallway. When we entered, everyone cheer and began to clap.

Dave and the guys shook hands, back clapped and fist bumped. I looked around the room. Tonight’s party was much different from last night's. The suite was packed, the air was damp with sweat, the music was loud, and there was a frantic mood in air.
