Chapter 58

The sun was just beginning to set when the limo pulled up at the Beach Front Inn. It was beautifully decorated with fresh white roses and ivy garland with hints of pale pink, which matched the girls' bridesmaids' dresses. We hurried upstairs to the bridal suite, where we would all get into our dresses. There was more champagne chilling in an ice bucket and the girls excitedly helped themselves. I wandered into the back bedroom and hung the garment bag that held my wedding dress from the canopy bed. I smiled as I noticed a small, gift wrapped package resting in the center. I crawled across the bed and sat down cross-legged and picked up the card first.

"Katie," was scrawled on the front in Dave's familiar handwriting. I gently slid my finger inside the envelope, opening it and pulled out a plain white note card. I opened it and read, "I've adored you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You are the one thing my life was missing. Now that I have you, I have everything I have always wanted. You've given my life new meaning, you've made my house a home, you've become a wonderful mother to Violet and Hayden and you've given me a beautiful son. I am going to spend the rest of my life loving you and being loved by you. I will see you soon, Love Dave" I clutched the note card to my chest and struggled not to cry. I took a few deep breaths and reached for the gift box, slowly unwrapping it. Inside was a gorgeous diamond tennis bracelet with sparkling diamonds and pink sapphires. I gasped.

"Oh my god," I whispered, staring down at it.

"What do you have there?" Ali asked, poking her head in the room.

"My wedding gift from Dave," I said, softly, handing her the box.

"Holy fuck," Alison gasped. "Girls, get in here!" The rest of my bridal party spilled into the room and uttered similar epitaphs as they looked down at my bracelet. Alison gently extracted it from the rectangular box and I held out my wrist so she could fasten it on.

"Just keep her away from the ocean," Cara warned. "With all those diamonds on, she's going to sink right to the bottom!" I laughed and shook my wrist, watching the light from the setting sun bounce off the diamonds and paint rainbows on the walls. Heidi handed me a glass of champagne.

"Drink this," she said. Then it's time to get into your dress!" I smiled and my heart beat faster with anticipation. I sipped my champagne and watched the girls slip into their dresses. They were adorable; pale pink, strapless empire waist dresses made out of light and airy fabric that almost floated down around the girls and fell right at the knee. I had given each girl a strand of pink pearls with matching pink earrings. Each girl had her hair pulled back and done up and they looked stunning.

"I love that we don't have to worry about shoes," Danielle laughed. We would all be barefoot for the ceremony and the girls had little pink flip flops they could throw on after if they wanted.

"It's time," Alison said, looking at Heidi. I nodded and they all followed me back into the bedroom. Heidi unzipped the garment bag and gently took my dress out. Cara and Ali had seen me in it already, but it would be the first time for Heidi and Danielle. I stripped out of my clothes, careful not to muss my hair or veil. I slipped into my sexy undergarments, blushing as I thought about how I'd be back here in a few hours taking them off again.

Heidi, my maid-of-honor, helped me into my dress and slowly did up the long row of buttons. When she finished, I turned and faced them all.

"Like a princess," Danielle said, tears in her eyes. Heidi could only smile and nod. Suddenly, there was a knock at the suite's door. Cara rushed to open it. It was Chris, who was acting as one of the ushers.
